When I rock her at night I sing her children's church songs. My favorites are I am a Child of God and Families Can Be Together Forever.
I grew up with them and sang them to dd1 as well and when she hears me sing to LO she requests for me to cuddle in her bed and sing to her too. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
My child LITrally starts whimpering when I sing to her. My voice is that bad, apparently. When she was tiny, I would sing Beatles songs to her when I rocked her to sleep. "In my Life" and "Let it Be" were my personal favorites.
OMG, I'm putting In My Life in the rotation. LOVE.

Ahhh this song! Do you remember the sleepys commercial with that song? Love!! It's deft going to be in my head all night.
I mostly sing made up songs that make no sense, but he doesn't care. Sometimes I sing this phonics song that he loves from YouTube. He is probably the only one who actually enjoys my signing (for now!).
I sing "You are my Sunshine" and "All the Pretty Little Horses" every night. I sing to her throughout the day but these are our special going to sleep songs.
For bedtime, we have a few. Rainbow Connection, Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel) by Billy Joel, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, What a Wonderful World, and Edelweiss.
Err, we did a bedtime song for a while before we moved, maybe like 2 months. I like the sentiment but we really only did it to establish a routine and help him understand bedtime. It worked for the most part. I did SS though because tone deaf.
Brahms lullaby is the final "you better knock the ef out" song right before I shut the door.
Our other songs that I use through out the day the entertain or calm him include Tonight You Belong To Me, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Daydream, and a Johnny Cash/June Carter song about a honey bee. Sometimes I break out the ukulele too and he has a blast standing up and holding the strings down.
Is it considered tone deaf if you can hear how horrible your are yourself? I can't carry a tune to save my life, or even recreate the rythem of the song if it's not playing for me to sing along with.
That being said, Milo gets the ABCs (and twinkle twinkle since it's the same tune) and You are My Sunshine since theyr'e easy (they still sound like poop). I play a lot of beatles for him because they're my fav and that's what I grew up with.
i sing disney songs.... or random chinese songs that are definitely "for adults", but i don't know many kids songs in chinese....my parents didn't sing to me, but i try to immerse them in chinese as much as possible..so adult songs when i run out of disney songs.

All the pretty little horses is deft going in the rotation. How did I forget about that one?!?! Red and grey, black and bay, all the pretty little horses!

Gah, I can't make it through Edelweiss without crying. My dad used to sing it to me when I was a kid. Then again, half the time Maybe makes me tear up, too.
i'm curious to know what you're taking pictures of hahah.
Is that Chinese correct? It is a picture from my wedding program. My sister and BIL learned the song from their time in China with the peace corp and wanted to sing it during our ceremony. She emailed me the name. The coolest part was that we had a full moon that night, totally unplanned!

friday confession-- i can't read chinese. i can read at a preschool level, so i'll tell you the first word is moon, and the last three words are me/my (filler word showing posession) heart. so....it's close, lol. but i googled the translation you had, and the song came up with it, so it works.

@taylormarie923 I have LITrally never heard this song sung by anyone other than the original and/or karaoke versions, and I honestly never knew it could be so beautiful.
Not neccessarily at bed time, but sometimes when LO gets upset it's the only thing that calms him down. I either sing him "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, or "Smile" from the mygirl 2 soundtrack. He will just stop in his tracks and relax... Most of the time lol

I told my hub about it and he was pretty excited that there were non-Chinese people singing this song at a wedding. This song is like his family's theme song. So yes, we would love to see a clip if you're providing one!
