Elevated white blood cell count but not sick. Thoughts...?

Hey ladies. Got a call from the PA at my doc's office (saw her for my first appointment). All my initial blood work is in and looks normal for me and my history except my WBC count. It is elevated to 17 when 10 is the high end of normal. They don't seem to be too worried about it because "it happen sometimes in pregnancy." They are going to retest in 3 weeks at my next appointment. I've been researching a little and I'm not seeing a lot except it is indicative of infection. I'm not sick at all--no fever, coughing, pains, etc. Has anyone had this problem? I'm curious as to the course of action and how it resolved.

  • Nothing to be concerned about, even just stress can cause elevated white cell count.
    Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!!

Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this. ;)
