Pregnant after a Loss

Cramps, Cramps Go Away..

Starting the morning of the day of my missed period, I have been having cramps off & on, which feel a lot like period cramps. They don't last very long and I have read that it is normal to have these cramps in early pregnancy as long as there is no blood with them, which there isn't. I was just wondering if any of you have gone through this and if you might have any ideas of how long they might last, because they are getting a little annoying. I will be asking my OB about them when I make an appt., but thought I would ask you ladies about your experiences.

Thanks Ladies!

Re: Cramps, Cramps Go Away..

  • I have had cramping of varying degrees throughout my entire pregnancy - even now at 17 weeks. In the beginning, it felt almost menstrual-like, and now it's more muscular feeling. My OB said as long as it's mild and there is no spotting/bleeding, that usually it's common in pregnancy. I even had a freak out about it just today and called them for reassurance!

  • I had a lot of cramping in my early pregnancy.  It probably lasted until 10ish weeks. It is terrifying, hang in there!

  • Yup, cramping here too.  I'm in 12w and there are still occassional cramps, but like sgio said they are different in the beginning.

I think it's a very cruel trick that prego cramps feel like menstrual cramps...like we don't have enough to worry about!?!?

    Hang in there!

  • I had mild cramping in the beginning.  I don't remember exactly how long it lasted, but I'm still here at almost 34 weeks.  Hang in there.  I know it can be scary!

  • I had light period-like cramps through the entire 1st trimester.  I still have aches and things, but it's not exactly the same kind of feeling, as pp said.  It's more muscular.  Stretching and intestinal issues cause a lot of the "cramping" type pain later on.  In my experience, yes the period-like cramps go away, but crampy/achy feelings in general never have gone away for me.

My dr has said everything I've felt has been normal.  If you've ever had debilitating period cramps, that is what I was told to worry about.  Like on the floor, crying kind of cramps.

  • Like PP's I had mild to moderate cramping off and on this entire pregnancy (I am 16w today). I would say starting around 11-12w they became not as strong and less frequent but still hanging around. I had no bleeding or spotting and was told as long as I didn't have either of those or intense pain not to worry about it. Sorry you are dealing with this, I know how much of a mind f*ck it is!!

  • I'm cramping right now and I am a little over 4 weeks. With my first pregnancy I cramped a lot too. It is very scary, but totally normal.
  • At 10w1d, I am still cramping. As long as there is no spotting, I take it as a good sign of a growing baby (and uterus). PGAL brain doesn't offer much reassurance, but hang in there!
