TTC Check-in (August 11th)

Hello, everyone. :)

How is your/your partner's TTC journey progressing?

*Reminder - If you have a BFP to announce, please do so by creating a new thread for everyone on the board to see. Thank you*

QOTW: What is the best thing that has happened to you during the past week?

Re: TTC Check-in (August 11th)

  • Hi all,

    Well, I am 2 months from my IUI and my excitement is mounting...I am currently doing all my blood tests and initial u/s. I am cd 3(tmi) so I will probably be going in tomorrow for the first round of tests. DW and I have finally picked our donor and just ordered his photos (he was an adorable baby!) We didn't order any of the extra stuff, we just kind of feel like our kid will be who they are and we don't want to mount to many expectations. We will be ordering our vials in a few weeks (super early but I don't want to run into any traveling delays) So this month of testing, then next month we are just going to try and relax and enjoy September. Its both of our birthday month and also our anniversary. (we got married on her birthday :x ) Then in October, it begins.

    QOTW: The best thing to happen to me in the past week was that we secured the funds for 4 cycles of iui, including the cost of sperm so that was major for me..

    I also just got the HP chromebook (I'm a gadget girl so I'm stoked)

    @ticktock0903 - Exciting times for you!  Enjoy all the celebrations, IUI day will be here before you know it.

    @TwomomsinTX - Good luck tomorrow.  I'm sorry that you're feeling discouraged.  And though I don't have personal experience with IVF, I can say that I totally understand not being confident going in to a procedure.  It's the worst feeling.  It's that why-am-I-even-bothing and am-I-wasting-my-money thing ... it SUCKS.  I do want to commend you on being aware of your wife's feelings.  It's such a hard balance because as the Mom who carried, I can tell you that the feeling of disppointing your partner is very real.  Sounds like you're doing the right things though, letting her know how proud you are of her, and telling her she's doing a great job.  You're a good partner.

    _________________________________

    Still in my self-monitoring cycle over here.  Good news is that it's looking like I ovulated, albeit a little late (even for me).  But still it's a remotely normal cycle, so I'll take it and just hope that the pattern remains.

    QOTW:  One great thing that happened last week, was that I heard from some old friends, and now I have TWO get-togethers next weekend.  One is with a couple that we are very close to, but they live in CA.  They're having a party here in MN to see all their old friends, but Gabe and I will be out of town for that so we're setting something up with just the 4 of us (and kiddos).  The other get-together is a total surprise - someone that I sang with in college is coming to MN for a visit (from NY) and a few of my other singing buddies are all going to get together and catch up.  I haven't seen some of them for probably 15 years.  How is that even possible?  I'm pretty stoked, just hoping the two events don't clash for time.

  • Hi all

    Good luck to you @TwoMomsInTX‌

    Yay on getting your IUI funds secured that takes a lot of stress out of it @ticktock0903‌

    We are 7 dpiui I am getting the itch to test I was always an early tester. But my SO wants to wait till 14 dpiui how am I going to handle that lol. But with her being the one trying I have to respect her choice. Right now we are just keeping busy and I am trying not to think about it too much ;)

    QOTW: One good thing that happened this week is our rescue dog is finally doing great with his training we were able to take him to the dog park and he did great with all the other dogs and people :) he is a super anxious boy due to his past but we are making great progress.

  • I'm 10dpo (no insem this month) and crossing my fingers that my luteal phase stays extended and I have another few AF-free days so that ordering for our next home ICI doesn't get super complicated since we'll be out of town just before. (I've already got a friend who has agreed to help out and sign for our "package" if need be  -- wasn't THAT a funny conversation?! Ha)

    My acupuncturist is away on holiday and I'm thinking of defecting to her substitute because, wow, this morning's session was WONDERFUL. She did this cupping massage thing on my stomach that's supposed to stimulate blood flow. She also wants me to gain a few pounds -- her instructions were something like "Eat a tub of olives every day for the next week." I don't know if I'll be able to go THAT far.

    The best thing that happened to me this past week was that I got a sort-of job! I won't be bringing in big bucks but it's something I really wanted and supplementary income while I'm finishing up my PhD so I'm pleased!
  • ticktock0903 good luck!  it's a great idea to have the vials ready to go.

    TwoMomsInTX I know it is hard to hear but try to stay positive.  I know it is frustrating when you don't get the number you were expecting, but I think staying positive is very important.

    CrazyAunt84 Good luck on Thursday!

    On Saturday my wife had the second IUI.  This time we decided that should we use medication plus the trigger shot (last time was only the trigger shot).  We were expecting 3 or 4 folicles to grow but it looked like it was only 1 maybe 2 folicles at the last ultrasound.  But, one of the folicles was much bigger than the last time we did the IUI so I thought that was a good improvement.  She started the estrogen and tomorrow is the progesterone.

    Now we wait until the 25th for the beta test.

    QOTW:  I guess it was the IUI on saturday.  We had a nice movie day and relaxed.
  • How is your/your partner's TTC journey progressing? So far so good.  Everything planning wise has fallen into place exactly how we want without being too perfect.  We are hoping to start our first cycle of TTC next month.

    QOTW: What is the best thing that has happened to you during the past week? We found our donor!!

    I hope everyone is having a great start to the week!

    @ticktock0903‌ as awkward as they are (at least I think so lol) the IUIs were always so exciting! Good luck in October! And enjoy the next two months!

    @TwoMomsInTX‌ I totally understand how you feel! My doctor had me all excited that we might end up with 10+ eggs and only retrieved around 7 both times.... It is disappointing. Good luck tomorrow!!

    @jgy me too! I'm not enjoying this self-monitoring month though! And I'm anxious for October so we can do a real cycle!

    As for my check/in.... I'm about halfway through my first self-monitoring month. I started temping on CD5 and OPKs yesterday, on CD10. Plus I've been kinda sorta checking CM. And I have a feeling I'm going to ovulate a lot sooner than I thought, but I'm not sure. I'm using FF And it changed today to an "actual" fertile day instead of a predicted one.... Which I think is based solely on what I put down for my CM today.... Because my OPKs have all been negative so far (but even though it's digital, I can tell on the test strip when I eject it that the line is getting darker.) And my temps are all over the place! Yesterday morning it dropped a lot, to about 96.8, but it went back up to 97.7 this morning.... It's been close to that for most of the time... So I don't know if it will spike higher tomorrow or stay with my pretty consistent 97.something.... Sigh at this point I don't really care when I ovulate... As long as it's the same or close next month!!
  • Good luck to everyone! It's hard to put out money, effort, and anything really and not have any guarantees. It's something my wife and I talk about at great lengths about :(

    Currently, my wife has had all her preliminary tests done and everything looks great-- our RE suggests we do 3 natural cycle IUIs, but after 2 and nothing had happened (I'm super impatient...) we thought we'd put forth all our effort and go with a medicated cycle. We decided however, to try one more natural cycle, which will be this one in September (fingers crossed). I'm trying not to think too much about it honestly or I'll drive myself nuts. If I even look at this board too much durning the TWW, google symptoms, read our horoscope (we're both Leos) :D...do you see what I mean? So that's where we are at. I am baby CRAZY.

    QOTW: We just got back from a week long vacation at the beach with my wife's family. It was very relaxing and much needed!
  • @kristi&p J always wanted me to wait and poas when she was home so we could read it together! There were a few times I couldn't!! Good luck!!

    @channe9‌ good luck on your upcoming ICI!

    @CrazyAunt84‌ good luck!!

    @MamaNumber2‌ good luck!!

    @sdfonz619‌ good luck to you, too, next month!!

    @ticktock0903 Finally deciding on a donor is so exciting! Just enjoy September and IUI day will be here soon!

    @TwoMomsInTX Exciting news! I will be thinking about you guys and keeping my fingers crossed for a smooth ER in the morning! I know how frustrating this whole process can be. Ups and downs and the last thing I want to hear is people say stuff like "When its meant to be it'll be" or "when the time is right it'll happen." I've also heard the "All you need is one" It just makes me want to high five these people in the face :) Just try and relax. You guys are doing everything right! L likes to yell at my uterus to get on board with the baby making thing.

    @CrazyAunt84 Fingers crossed for Thursday!

    @MamaNumber2 Fingers crossed also!

    @Sdfonz619 Congrats on finding your donor!

    @gayby Welcome to TTC!

    It's nice to see the TTC filling up with new people :)

    I already posted in a different thread about my ER. I'm still felling yucky but thankfully can walk and am sleeping much better. We have our appointment with our RE tomorrow @3 to go over the ER. L and I are both still frustrated and have a ton of questions. We are going to make a list tonight because every time we meet with her we can never remember half the questions. L is upset, kinda angry so she said she is going to walk in there and ask our RE not to talk till she gets everything out first. Our RE just has this calming effect on people and you can't be angry with her once she starts talking. She is seriously one of the nicest people I have ever met. It will just be nice to come up with a plan for October. As of now we don't want to do a fresh cycle and just stick with our FET, hopefully putting the 3 embryos back in the first week of October.

    QOTW: After being unemployed for over a month, I am about 99.9% sure I found a job. Going to do a trial with the current nanny/house manager tomorrow!

  • We had my "pre-op" appointment with our RE on Friday. The whole appointment consisted of A signing her embryos over to me and us joking around with the nurse teaching us how to to shots and crinone again. Now we just wait for me to start my period.

    We did find out that the stupid lab is shutting down for TEN days to switch electronic medical records systems. We are going to be cutting it super close to shut down...so that makes me nervous.

    QOTW: I turned 31 on Saturday. A's mom came up and took care of M so we went to see Jennifer Nettles (amazing!). A's mom made me brownies for breakfast and M finally started saying Mamamama. Prior to this week the only word he said was "dad." It was a pretty awesome weekend!
    Same-sex couple- In love with my awesome wife, A, since 2007
    Our son M was born 6.2013

    M was conceived via IVF using donor sperm and my wife's eggs. My wife carried.

    Now I am starting my second FET with embryos from A's IVF cycle...this is our last shot.

    ET 9/15- BFN

  • My wife and I are currently in the Two week waiting period. I was inseminated on July 29,2014 and today would be the 15th day. I tested from the 9-14 post IUI and continue to get negative results. This is my first IUI and we only used one vial of sperm this time around. I'm starting to lose hope since it's already the 15th day post IUI. We are leaving for New Orleans (we live in Texas) later today so I think I might just test in a couple days and see what happens.
    The best thing as of right now to happen to me is that I haven't started my period so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    @crazyaunt84, I'm so sorry.  I debated posting some well-wishes for you today, but based on your suspicions, I didn't want to highlight what could be a disappointing outcome.  TTC sucks.  You don't deserve to struggle, you two are so awesome (those are actually two seperate statements).

    Sending hugs, if you'll take 'em.
