NOT waking up engorged?

I know, I know...just yesterday I was trying to find breast pads for excessive overnight leaking. But this morning, after a 7-hour stretch followed by a 5-hour stretch, my pads are bone dry for the first time since DD was born. Ack.

At some point does overnight supply regulate so you don't wake up engorged every morning? If not, I might have a big problem.

Yes.

Milk production tends to regulate sometime between 3-4 months post partum.

DS actually gave me long stretches the past three nights. The first two I woke up super engorged and had to pump for relief. This third morning I wasn't engorged and didn't have to pump and got less at my first pump. I think it does regulate.

@sparklingdiamond DD has been going 8 hours for several weeks now, and today is the first day I didn't wake up with half-inch-thick soaked pads and boobs that felt like they were going to explode. I wonder why it took so long.

This morning was the first time for me where I didn't wake up with hard boobs and mine has been STTN for a few weeks too. I was so happy that they finally adjusted!

Yep this is the time when your boobs stop feeling so full. At first it is pretty freaky because it will make you think you aren't producing enough. Your production is fine, this is totally normal.

Thanks for this. I would go 7-8 hours and wouldn't be engorged at all. Sometimes they feel a little hard but that's it. I was also worried my supply was dwindling.

This happened to me too! I was so paranoid I was losing my supply because it seemed like I stopped getting engorged overnight. My letdown is a lot less forceful too.

I pump for the night at around 10:00 then nurse DS once through the night. I finally stopped waking up engorged but I still get about 9 oz when I pump in the morning.

Mine are much less engorged than they used to be. DD does one 8 hour stretch but leaking usually still happens but how much can vary a lot. Today I was cleaning the bathroom and half of my shirt got soaked. Why? Ah!

I never wake up engorged, but DD eats every 2-3hours. When DD1 started dropping her night feedings and sleeping longer stretches it would take 2-3 days for my supply to regulate and not feel engorged.

Yup, I haven't felt engorged at anytime in weeks. Totally normal. Just your supply regulating.

Jenb_99 thanks for posting this! Same situation here. DS dropped his MOTN feed for the first Tues night and I woke up Wed with a horrible mess. Every morning has gotten better. Hopefully yesterday morning was a fluke that you woke up leaky!
