Trouble TTC

Celiac Disease & TTC

Hello,
I'm sure many of you may have read this on the TTGP board. I expressed my concern about having Celiac's Disease and starting to TTC again. My husband & I TTC about 5 years ago before I was diagnosed or aware of my allergy. It was difficult and added a lot of stress to our marriage. After going to see a Dr. they did an initial work up and my Dr. prescribed me Metformin. At that point the stress was high and we were in our early 20's and decided not to go down that road at the time. While I am aware of my gluten allergy and eat gluten free currently, the idea of TTC again is exciting and nerve wracking because I am concerned it may be another long stressful period of time....I guess I just wanted to share my conflicting emotions and wonder if any of you have Celiac & are going through something similar? I'm feeling somewhat alone in this situation.

Thanks for your responses. I have been gf for the last few years. We tried to conceive prior to that for around a year. We haven't tried since going gf, and I will post on the TTGP board as I understand that I haven't been in the process for 12+ months this time around. The Metformin was because my blood work indicated mild PCOS. Best wishes to everyone!

  • lovethesun25 - whether you're in the right place or not, i wanted to say i'm sorry to hear you have celiac. i have a very strong reaction to gluten and it almost ruined my life, i was having so much joint pain for 10 years before i realized going off gluten could help (this was in 2005 way before it was trendy, my family just thought i was crazy).  i have tested negative for celiac but i may as well have it, b/c the tests are not very good i understand.  my advice is to stay on a GF diet (obvi) and also look into Weston A Price (google it) get Nourishing Traditions, go organic and avoid soy (it affects hormones).  try to avoid coffee, and nightshades b/c they can bring up inflammation.  and try acupuncture for stress.  good luck!
    TTC#1 since Aug 2013, I'm 37, DH 41.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!
