Who babysits your kids?

Up until now, we have mainly used my mom to babysit our kids. I have no idea where to even begin (we are basically looking for just a few days or evenings a month)

  • Usually my mom or MIL for both girls or just the baby. My SIL has watched my 3 year old a few times. We've also paid H's 14 year old cousin to watch my 3 year old.
  • My mom and mil. If they were both busy I'd have no idea who I'd use.

    There’s a lightning in your eyes I can't deny
Then there’s me inside a sinking boat running out of time
Without you I'll never make it out alive
But I know, yes, I know we’ll be alright

No family here. We used to use my BFFs niece and her friends (college students) but they got flakey so I've gotten a few off of care.com that I've been happy with. I also have the # of one of the subs from his nursery school.

  • MIL and our friend's sister. Other friends and my mom too, but my mom only comes down on special occasions as she lives a ways away.

  • My mom is our go-to sitter. In another year or two we'll be able to leave Thing 2 with Thing 1 which will be awesome.

We don't have family nearby, so it's church friends, neighbors and care.com for us.

  • My dad, my mom, or my MIL while DD is awake; my sister will come hang out at the house after DD is asleep if DH and I want to go out and grab a beer or something.
  • No one and it sucks. Daycare does a Parents Night Out once a month. MIL can't be counted on as an option and she's the only local family.
  • DD s our sitter. SIL watches them if it's for a trip. I know a few teachers in our school system that also babysit especially during the summer. Many people go that route. Students in our local college's childcare/education fields also have postings for babysitting.

  • No one we never get out. His mom is our back up during our babysitters maternity leave, but that is during the day. If we really needed someone we could ask his sister or niece, but she is 19 and works nights. My sister works at night too.

  • We have both sets of grandparents near us but have used a neighbor or close friend before.

  • My parents, my BIL (usually when my mom, sister and I are doing something together) or we do have a 19-year-old sitter that we use occasionally.  Her mom is a friend of the family.

  • Grandparents only for us. It's pretty rare, though.

  • A teacher from DS' old daycare. She's graduated college now and has a real job but still loves babysitting thank God.
  • We use girls in the neighborhood. We have a slew of 14 year olds that my girls love. It's an added bonus not to have to drive them home too.

"A real job" sounds really demeaning
Oh blah. She was working part time on her school breaks before. I just meant she'd gotten a full time job in her career field.
