Help pleaaase.

I am desperate. I have been so sick, constantly, all day long, all night long. Miserable doesn't begin to describe the way I'm feeling. I puke at work. If we try to go on a date to the movies or dinner..I have to run away and puke. Even grocery shopping is out of reach because what do ya know....I puke!!! I had my first appointment a week ago, with a 7 pound loss in two weeks. My dr realizes how sick I am. I am prescribed zofran...doesn't work. I have tried unisom per doctors suggestion..doesn't work. I try to eat small amounts regularly, just puke them up. This makes me never want to endure pregnancy again!! If anyone has anything I have not tried...I am willing to give it a whirl! Anything helps. Thanks fellow pukers.

Re: Help pleaaase.

  • Awww sounds terrible. I've been feeling pretty crappy too, but I don't actually puke, I just feel like I'm going to. The doc gave me some diclectin and that helps a lot... not sure if it's the same as zofran? How far along are you? Hopefully the second trimester will give you some much needed relief!!! :(

  • Are you taking the pill that dissolves on your tongue or the one you swallow? I have found that that the only ones that work for me are the dissolving tablets.
  • I would call your Dr.

You could easily become dehydrated and that's not good for either you or the baby. In the meantime try making homemade ginger or lemon ice pops. Boil sliced ginger in water for about 5 mins, then let it steep, then dilute it with some more water and put in ice cube trays with sticks. Suck on those so it controls the amount of water you're taking at one time or drop an ice cube in a glass of water and sip slowly. I don't know what to do about the food other than go bland and try one bite, give it ten mins and then another...

  • Sounds like your medication is similar to mine. An anti-nausea. It helped for the first week or two I took it, but this week I can't even feel the difference. I have been counting the days until I reach the 12 week mark...3 weeks and 4 days left
  • I am taking the one that you swallow... Maybe the dissolving one would work for me as well?! @MamaBear904‌ thank you for the wonderful advice. The dr is very aware of my sickness, I puked in the trash can next to her at my appointment last week...! She doesn't seem to be too worried, but I sure am.
  • Also, zofran can be prescribed in a 4 mg pill or an 8 mg pill. The 4 mg did not work for me. I had to have the highest dose. Weight loss is a normal symptom in early pregnancy. But if you are unable to hold down fluids you need to call your doctor immediately. It is important that you don't get dehydrated.
  • Ask for diclegis! I had horrible sickness all day like that and lost 5 pounds, I'd tried everything, then my doctor suggested these! It's a delayed release so you take two at bedtime and then in the morning you'll feel a little better, and slowly throughout the day you'll feel better too! I had to up the dosage after 3 days to one in the morning as well. It's not completely gone but now it's bearable. Hope you feel better soon! Oh and as an added thing, it's weird but the smell of vinegar really helps me feel better and sucking on a warhead or life saver.
  • I thought it was Unisom + B6?

I use https://www.amazon.com/Three-Lollies-Preggie-Sickness-Raspberry/dp/B0083VODME/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1408043802&sr=8-2&keywords=pregnancy+pops to help as well as a ginger lemon tea, coupled with eating a couple of nuts or dried fruit every hour or so.

  • I second pp...I have lost close to 10 lbs in 2 weeks, dehydrated and had horrible headaches from lack of food and water. I tried diclegis samples, they ran out and were so expensive so I tried zofran (had the worst headache/migraine from it!) then tried b6 and unisom...nothing worked so dr have me two bottles if diclegis. That stuff is a miracle! I can eat and drink again! I still feel sick on and off but can function much better.

  • I was the same way last pregnancy. Thankfully this time around is much better. Last time I ended up in the hospital for dehydration--not fun. Popsicles were my friend, as well as anything else ice cold in very small amounts. There are other meds you can try as well--contact your OB. I totally feel for you though. It's the worst :(

  • I agree with everyone and THANK YOU so much for responding. Means the world!! I am worried about dehydration with the amount I've been puking. I've had terrible head aches and almost feel like a fuzzy over cast over me if that makes any sense at all. I see my OB on September 5th...so, next question. If you were me would you bother your OB before then? Or tough it out for 3 more weeks
  • Definitely call now. And if you can't keep down fluids for more than 6-8hrs, go to the hospital for IV fluids. I've had to that many times.

I'm on diclegis and Zofran. So I definitely second that it works pretty good because my last pregnancy I lost 35 lbs from not eating. Buuuut the smell of vinegar? That has made me gag violently the two times I've smelled it lol. Life savers are great though!
  • Call your OB right away. I know how youre feeling and there's no reward for toughing it out!

  • Definitely call your OB sooner rather than later. They may want to check to see if you are spilling keytones (sp?) in your urine. You may need IV fluids or even IV medications to help you.

I second or third the Diclegis...it's amazing stuff. It takes a while to kick in, but I'm finally able to eat again for the most part.

Also look into citrus candies of some kind. For instance, orange starburst really helped me last time, sour patch kids helped my first pregnancy. This time it's those mini chewy sweet tarts. It doesn't work for everyone, so see how your tummy reacts before going crazy. There's another product called preggie pops that lots of women love, though they didn't work for me.

And I didn't see it mentioned but have you tried sea bands? Many ladies swear by them.

  • What's diclegis?

Another less used option is phenergan suppositories. But please call your doctor ASAP.

Diclegis is a newer anti nausea. I believe I read it has the unisom (maybe the b6?) in it. It will make you sleepy, and it takes a while to really take effect, but man, it works.

  • Sorry about the nausea sweet girl. And not to be a Debby downer, but the second trimester begins your 13th week. Hope you feel better soon!!
