Breastfeeding

Weaning question

My son is 5 months old and I am ready to begin weaning (personal reasons). I have some milk frozen that will get is through, I am guessing, a month..? I am going to start trying out different formulas to make sure I find one that agrees with his tummy. And my thought process is to give him some formula and some breast milk and do more of a transition instead of just cold turkey no more BM and here is the formula. Anyway, my question is how should I go about weaning so I don't get engorged. Is it possible to go to just pumping in the morning and then again at night? Any insight on the process is greatly appreciated.

Re: Weaning question

  • Oh he is all over the board some days lol. He typically eats every 3 hours. If he is given a bottle he will eat at least 4.5 ozs but seems to be wanting a little more these days so we are playing with the amount. As for pumping I pump at work at 11 am and at 2 pm then usually before I go to bed in case he wants to sleep awhile so I don't wake up super full.
