I am 37 years old and 11 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby. My youngest is 5 so the testing they do now seems to be different (and I was also much younger during my last pregnancy).
My doctor went over all sorts of tests they can do and she suggested starting with the nuchal translucency. What can I expect tomorrow when I go in for this test? Do they do an external ultrasound and blood work? I know she went over all of this with me, but all of the information she gave me is kind of all blurred together in my brain.
Thanks!

It went well! She gave me the option to do the MaterniT21 and I decided to go ahead with it. Everything looked good at this point. It was awesome to see the little peanut moving around in there!!

Welcome to the group! Wonderful to hear you saw the baby on the ultrasound!
Were you able to do the external ultrasound or did you have to vaginal? I have my 10wk ultrasound next week and I will be doing the MaterniT21 blood work as well. I'm sure that one will still have to be vaginal as well, but looking forward to doing external ultrasounds soon, I hope!
ME: 38, DH: 42, stopped BCPS 1/2013, TTC #1 2/2013, AMH 0.4, started acupuncture: 7/2013, BFP: 10/07/2013; MC 10/15/2013 @ 7 wks (natural), focused on health issues for 7 months. TTC again: 6/2014, 2nd round Letrozole, BFP 7/7/2014!!! --- EDD 3/18/2015!!!
Congrats on good early results, and so glad you decided to go ahead with mat21!! It is a simple non-invasive test and will give you a lot of reassurance when results come back!

My first appointment with my OB was at 10 weeks and she tried to find the baby w/ the internal ultrasound. Because of my anatomy and previous cesareans she had to use the external which wasn't as clear, but worked.
At my appointment yesterday for the NT scan which was at a different location with a specialist, they did the external ultrasound. Everything was very clear and we even saw the baby's hand with 5 fingers. That was the BEST part for me
Good luck at your appointment! It really is so amazing to see them in there moving around!
