Fire inspection.

We had our home study in June. The fire marshal still hasn't contacted us for our fire inspection. Our SW told us last Monday that we are on the top of the list. It is so frustrating. Rant over. Sorry I've been MIA. I haven't had much to post about :-(

Re: Fire inspection.

  • They make a fire inspector come to the house?  Holy cats that seems like overkill!  Our SW just needed to test all of our alarms, check for a fire extinguisher and evacuation route.

    Good luck!

  • So your agency scheduled the appointment? I assume since you said they said you were at the top of the list. We just called our local fire dept and they were out the next week. Make sure you have your routes planned, fire and tornado, and make sure you have the right extinguisher. Our fire inspector gave us the extinguisher run-a-round!
  • They sent a request to the county's fire marshal office. We have everything done. We had it done for our home study so our SW could give us advice. We still haven't heard from them and our SW is not happy about that. It's kind of ridiculous but I guess it's what we have to do so we'll sit and wait. Thanks y'all!

  • Check mark it in the journey book of adoption! I swear it's always something that seems like it could be simple but is drug out. All worth it in the end though!

  • We had to go in person to the inspections office downtown to pay a fee (in exact change cash) in order to schedule a fire inspection which was then scheduled immediately. Every local area likely does it differently, though. I talked to the fire inspector directly before he came and asked him what caused people to have problems. I'm glad I did because I didn't know we had to have our fire extinguisher inspected and tagged separately. He also mentioned that he checked to make sure smoke detectors were not expired and we had several that were (I didn't know you had to replace smoke detectors every 10 years).
***************************** Our beautiful daughter was born in October 2009. Turns out she was quite the miracle. After two years of TTC, diagnosed with DOR. A couple of failed treatment cycles later, we decided to let go of our hope for more biological children and explore adoption.
  • @mtendere I had no idea they expired, either! Heck knows how old the ones in my house are. I've lived there for 6 years and have never replaced them! Good to know; thanks!

~ Hoping to add to our family by adoption via Connecticut DCF. Application submitted on 2/4/14. First home visit on 6/23/14. Started class 11/17/14.~
