Why won't my baby nap/sleep?? Help!

My son does not like to sleep or nap. It's so frustrating! He is soo tired but will not sleep. I've tried everything( except CIO). I need suggestions please. I watch for signs such as rubbing eyes or eyes starting to turn red or just getting fussy, and put him down right away and nope he is wide awake.

I'm ready to pull my hair out!

Re: Why won't my baby nap/sleep?? Help!

  • Have you tried letting him sleep elswhere?  My LO sleeps great at night, even if she wakes when I put her down she generally falls right back to sleep.  But she isn't a good napper either.  She can fall asleep in my arms, but the second I put her down she's wide awake.  She generally takes her first nap around noon so I put her in her swing.  When I can see that she's starting to get sleepy I'll give her a paci and her lovey and she'll generally pass out for at least an hour.

For her late afternoon nap I generally let her sleep in my arms.  I've generally got all my work done by then so I take a break and snuggle with her.  Good luck!

  • No more swaddling. He loved it the first month and a half then one night decides he hated it. He turned into a screaming crazy mess when we swaddled, as soon as we unwrapped him he was a perfect angle and went to sleep.

He's always been difficult to get down for naps. I've had success in the past with him sleeping on me, but lately he doesn't want that either :(

Car rides use to knock him out or walks, not anymore. His new thing is screaming in the car
  • We have that Issue at night. He is sound asleep in my arms and as soon as I put him down wide awake! He likes to smile too like haha I'm not going to bed
  • @lincbeesmom‌ yes I have read some posts from the board and have tried some of the suggestions but nothing is working. Is there one in particular you are referring to?
  • @FarmBoysWife‌ not all the posts but I have read some.
  • @lincbeesmom‌ like I said I have read some of the other threads. Unfortunately I don't have the time to read all of them. I made the new post so I could get some suggestions all in one place for a quick reference for me. I didn't realize I wasn't suppose to make a post similar to another. I was looking for some help and suggestions from other moms that are experiencing the same issues
  • @babylentilbean‌ thank you for the suggestion of the blankie. I have a little blankie my son likes I'll try only giving it to him for nap/bed
  • Baby wearing works best for us (we have similar sleep issues although we're also dealing with reflux).  A few minutes in a carrier and a walk around the house or yard puts him right to sleep.

  • My LO is terrible at sleeping also.she always sleeps in her swing, or I rock her around the room in my arms. The latter generally takes a few minutes, but once she's out, she's out. Also, our babies can sense frustration, so if you feel like you're progressively get t in Guo that point, set him down for a minute and go do something that relaxes you for 10 or 15 minutes and try again. You'll also have a lot more patience. :)
