Trouble TTC

Newbie!

Hi everyone!  My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about a year and a half.  Unfortunately no luck yet.  I am 27 and DH is 28.  We have been married 3 years this October. I started my 3rd (and final round) of Clomid a couple of days ago.  Hoping it works this month, but if not we are going to take a break since I am starting my last semester of school next week!  I've taken the scenic route through the college. During our break we are going to focus on making some healthy changes, losing some weight and the hardest thing of all for me... giving up caffeine!  I would love to lose 25 pounds by the new year.  My husband is great but it would be so nice to have other women in similar situations to talk to during this journey!  Looking forward to getting to know some of you all.  Good luck to everyone!

Sarah :-)

  • My OBGYN prescribed the Clomid (and provera this past cycle since I was CD49 without AF).  So far she is the only doctor we have seen except for my DH's testing
  • Hi and welcome!

Hopefully you won't need to do any more testing because you'll get a bfp but if you do, after your break please consider a REproductive endocrinologist. They are specialists and can help you get pregnant in a safe and monitored way that many OBs don't do properly.

    Good luck with everything!

  • Yes, please see and RE! I really hope you're at least being monitored on clomid or you could end up with serious issues. EEK. Welcome and I hope you have a short and wonderful stay here on 3T!

  • Thanks for the suggestions ladies!  My DH has had a SA and thankfully his results were great.  I have had ultrasounds on CD 12 to make sure the Clomid worked and then another ultrasound when AF shows up to make sure I don't have any residual eggs.  My 2nd month I had 3 residual eggs and had to go off Clomid for month.  I had to have Provera to that cycle and am back on Clomid now.

So does anyone have any healthy, easy snacks or lunches to pack for work?  I love to cook and am always looking for new ideas!  I'm a vegetarian but my hubby isn't.

  • Welcome!

I'm vegetarian as well, with PCOS which makes losing weight really hard! I've been doing a low-GI diet since I was diagnosed in late July, and it's been making a difference. For snacks, I do sunflower seeds, apples and cheddar cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and I just bought these AMAZING salted caramel coconut chips from Whole Foods that use coconut sugar so I don't feel so bad about them. Whole grains are key - cutting out white breads and pastas, and really limiting sugar has worked for me.

Good luck to you! With TTC and with school!

  • Welcome, though I'm sorry you have to be here.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief when you explained that you are being safely monitored on Clomid! But it does make sense to get a full workup with an RE before medicating yourself any more.

I hope this month does the trick and you don't need to wait. But, super exciting! Good luck on your last semester of school! What are you studying? I guess if you don't get KU this month, at least you won't have to deal with morning sickness and classes! :)

  • welcome and good luck!
    TTC#1 since Aug 2013, I'm 37, DH 41.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!
