open letter to the maternity "fashion" industry

Dear Maternity Clothes people,

I realize that this is completely irrational, but here's what I would like--clothes made specifically for MY pregnant body. I went dress shopping yesterday and because I have the biggest chest IN THE WORLD now, almost nothing fit. If it fit my body and belly, my boobs were smooshed down like I was wearing a sports bra 3 times to small. If the dress fit my boobs, the rest of it was like an ill-fitting tent. The dress I ended up with originally showed so much cleavage that I looked like a pregnant porn star, but it has now be modified with a few well-placed stitches and fashion tape.

what would be helpful is if you sold shirts and dresses by BRA size....you people could probably make a lot of money that way!

Sincerely,

big boobs mcgee

ps: just an fyi, pregnant women do not want shirts or sweaters with horizontal stripes. i mean really, I shouldn't have to tell you this...

I had to laugh at this.  I didn't have the boob problem, but my belly got so big that everything else did not fit very well.  I also agree with the horizontal stripes--what are they thinking?!

When I was pg, absolutely everything had a bow on it somewhere.  Because I wanted my belly or my butt to look like a present. (both of whom were pregnant, may I add.  I'd take the boobs over the triple a$$ any day!)

Try finding pants as a petite, fat-thighed but small-bellied PG lady!

    I feel your pain. :)

Ha! This is too funny. I'm the exact opposite. My boobs are pretty samll normally so I've been showing mine off like they're trophys! I was so proud when my friend commented about them. I will say that making dresses in bra sizes is a fab idea. Good Luck. A cute skirt and fun top might be a better bet for you.

So true!!  just wait till your milk comes in - my boobs are HUGE!!  iI dont have many shirts that fit them (H's!!!).  i knew they'd get bigger, but was unprepared for their current state.

totally agree with you! And, please tell them to stop making clothes with stripes, bows, horrible floral patterns and in colors I would never wear to begin with. Just because I am having a baby does not mean I want to spend the next few months in lavender, pale pink and awful pale blue. I HATE maternity clothes.

Maternity clothes suck. Period. I feel your boob pain - and in addition to the ginormous boobs, my belly is already HUGE and I feel like I'm carrying low, ergo all maternity pants EXCEPT the horrific full panel ones are falling down all the time. I am so ready to wear real clothes again!!!

Also - note to self 5 months ago - gaining 30 pounds in 5 months is not as much fun as it seems.

I thought making it up to Double EE was bad, but I am only 6 months, perhaps H is in my not so distant future.

Ditto to pp - plus sized and pregnant = bearing with some pretty horrible maternity clothes.  I'm just glad I'm not in my third trimester in the summertime... I'm grateful to cover up as much as possible.
