Nesting urge but no where to nest.

Baby will eventually share with DD and for now will just have a basinette in our room. So there isn't much to set up or decorate. But this nesting urge is so bad! Maybe I'll wash all the baby clothes and put them in baskets in our room.

Re: Nesting urge but no where to nest.

  • Ugh, all I want to do is organize baby stuff! But we are moving in a few weeks so everything in my life is in boxes :(

  • I feel the same! We're in the process of putting in an offer and purchasing a house so I can't decorate baby's room or anything. I'm going nuts lol

  • I've been nesting by just doing tons of general sorting/organizing and cleaning. Ex: I made my husband go through all our CDs, put them in a cd book, and get rid of the cases. Maybe that kind of thing would help satisfy the craving a bit?
This is what I've been doing: organizing and purging.  And damn, it feels amazing!  I tease DH that he better hide what he wants to keep because it could disappear.  I went through our kitchen drawers and cleaned them out, then I cleaned out the guest room and donated anything we haven't used in awhile.  IMO, even though these things aren't "baby" related, it helps satisfy the urge and it will make your life a lot easier once baby is here and you have no time to do it.

  • Guys!  My husband is doing the organizing/purging nesting!!! It's adorable!  Especially since he still has his clothes from high school for "sentimental reasons." This year, we'll be attending his 20th high school reunion...

  • If you have the urge to nest, this is something you and DD could do together! rearranging the room, and adding different curtains etc etc.

Cryssteen that is so sweet! The closest my husband has gotten to "nesting" is tidying up his computer room once a week from all his garbage.

  • We are hoping to buy a house soon, so it's pointless for me to do anything in the apartment, especially since baby will be in our room at first. Luckily I have a classroom to set up and I can get my nesting out there.

  • Feel you on this!
We have someone currently living in the future nursery, its driving me crazy! He's supposed to be out at the end of this month, I've got paint colors picked out and counting the days. I have boxes of clothes, burp rags, bibs, and blankets as well as a growing pile of baby gear in my closet waiting to get moved to the nursery.
  • @SerenityAE‌ us too!! I just want her gone so I can start setting things up!
  • I'm going crazy too! The only things we have done so far is DH ordered the paint and I started donating books from the bookcase in nursery to the library. Our parents are buying the furniture but DH still has to move old furniture out and paint. Its driving me nuts!!!
Married my best friend 7/2/11 - Furbaby born 7/9/11 and brought into our home 9/1/11

BFP#1:   2/2/13 ~ exact m/c date unknown but around 3/20 at 10 weeks ~ diagnosed with PMP ~ D&C on 4/5 ~ TTA for at least 1 year due to PMP ~ cleared to TTC 1/14

    BFP#2:   2/7/14 ~ m/c 2/20/14 ~ possibly due to chemical pregnancy ~ TG no D&C is needed

Surprise BFP#3:  4/4/14 ~ super duper extra happy (and nervous) about this one - EDD 12/9/14!!!

John Joseph was born on 12/12/14 at 7 lbs. 11 oz.  He is the most beautiful rainbow baby we could have wished for!

Me too. But my unwanted tenant likely will not leave, even though he knows we need the room for our baby. :(

@kate44m Make him leave! Tell him I'm sorry but for family reasons the room is no longer available. Our tenant bought his own place, but he knew he had to go anyway.
  • Nesting for me has always been more like organizing and cleaning. Getting things set up and ready. It doesn't really kick in for me until 35-37 weeks.

  • Nesting!!!! It has begun this week for me! I have started to set up the baby's room. Crib is installed we just need to get the mattress. Then once we find out the sex next week we could finally start decorating but for now I have organized all of my toddles clothing. And put away the ones that don't fit him anymore. I need to buy a rug and a dresser and then that's basically it. I have probably cleaned the entire house by now and I know my nestkng habits will only get worse as time goes in.

Thats me! Moving in a month and living in a tiny apartment until our house is finished so no baby stuff to organize yet.

    :(
  • I'm weirdly disconnected from the baby's future room, but we just moved into our new place and it's the fasted I've ever unpacked and the most throughly I've EVER organized. We still need to buy the crib, dressers for both bedrooms, a media solution for the living room, and to figure out our closet, but I'm telling you, in the past I've sat on unpacked boxes and stuff for YEARS. Apparently all I needed to do was get KU to find the motivation! ;)
  • Wishing I had a nursery to start setting up, but we just purchased a new house that my DH and DF are completely renovating and we just moved into my parents house for the time being. So I can nest unpacking my stuff but there is no room for baby stuff. =( praying I can get into my new house by Dec.
  • clean the stuff you normally don't, like the blinds, walls, ceilings, air vent, etc.  that should help :)

  • I am dying to nest as well! Unfortunately my credit card is taking all the abuse. The baby is going to room in with my DH and I until he sleeps through the night and then he will be moved in with my youngest. I need almost nothing for this LO but I can't seem to stop buying! Lol!

I think I just need to set aside some time to go through all my stored baby clothes and make a list of what I have. Then maybe I will behave myself.
  • Last week I scrubbed every baseboard in my house...talk about the nesting urge. I have already washed and put away baby clothes we have and we have the nursery painted and furniture put in--waiting to buy other baby things until after the baby shower. Baseboards just seemed like the way to go for me!
  • My dad came over last night to help me set up my crib/changing table and new curtains. Such a good feeling to start organizing around them!
