I was inspired by people talking about good deals in another thread to post this. As a hardcore bargain hunter/sale shopper, I'm always looking for ways to buy things cheaper when I can. I will never not check the internet for a code or a coupon and I'm always looking for innovative ways to do something for less that is normally hard to discount. Anyone else a deal hunter? What's your best recent deal? Brag away!
Here's mine: We recently booked a 5 day Disneyworld vacation for 3 for a grand total of $900, which includes 5 days staying on the resort (Art of Animation), 3 at the parks, airfare (Delta), transfers to and from the hotel and a rental car for a day to take a day trip at the end to visit my dad while we're down there. I had ordered the Disney vacation planning cd awhile back and have been getting deals sent to me ever since so I hopped on a deal for November where we got the hotel for only $89/night. Transfer to and from the airport is free since we're staying on the resort. No discounts on the park tickets other than multiday. Airfare was completely free. I opened up a Chase Sapphire card earlier this year-- it's a travel specific card and you get 50,000 points just for opening the card, which is enough for 2 free tickets. We just made it our primary card and used it exclusively for EVERYTHING this year and we had plenty of points to get al of our airfare free plus a free car rental. Plus, it was actually cheaper to book the airfare through the credit card company-- it was about 15% cheaper than the next cheapest airfare I could find (they claim it's 20% but it wasn't quite that good). There's an annual fee on it but I just have to close the card before the end of the year (we have pristine credit so closing a card for this purpose now and then isn't a big deal to us). After the trip, I'm going to transfer all the remaining points to another Chase card and close the Sapphire card. Then we'll wait a few months and have my husband open one in his name for the points and start building again for the next trip! I'm hoping to do this indefinitely, lol.
Re: What's the best deal you've gotten lately?
Last week I went to a company sample sale ( I work for a footwear company) and I got a pair of dressy sandals that retail for 595 for 35.00! I won't say the name, but it's a lesser know boutique type of brand that fashionistas love.
Yay shoes!
