AW: im awake cuz of contractions

They started around 9pm as menstral cramps and I started timing them, 10 min apart... Now it's 1am and they have definitly gotten stronger and are closer to 6min apart and have had a bloody show (mucus plug has been coming out since fri).

So now after texting my sis I'm bouncing on my ball and letting DH sleep I have a couple questions. I know this could b false so we'll see... :/

1. As of now it's pain mostly in my lower back, does it mean it's gonna b back labor or that's just how it can start?
2. I've read to go into the hospital when they're between 3-5 min apart lasting about 1min for more than an hour. But that's almost where I am, and the pain is manageable. At this point do I just wait till the pain is not or "feel" like its time to go?

TIA!

Eta: I'm a FTM and just a bit overwhelmed/excited

  • I don't have the answers to your questions, I just wanted to say good luck. I'm awake because I'm feeding my baby, soon that will be you.

    I would wait a bit
longer for them to get closer. Are you far from the hospital?

About 20min, I want to try to labor at home as long as possible just didn't expect I would be experiencing the contractions so close together already.

  • You have time if you want to wait, especially since you are close. Id say keep bouncing and timing. I would go in if they are unbearable or getting closer together( like 3 min apart range).

  • Fingers crossed for you!
  • I live really close to the hospital, and my doctor said to just wait until the contractions are 2-3 minutes apart.  Although by now (6 hours later), yours probably are!  Good luck!

They are averaging about 4 min now, I have to breath through them though, and I just threw up in the sink :(
