Gift for DCP from son?

So my son is heading off to kindergarten in a few weeks and I want to find something special for his DCP from him.  She has been absolutely amazing and she has almost become like an aunt to him.  She and I have become good friends so we do hang out outside of daycare as well.  I was thinking maybe a piece of jewelry that he can pick out but thought you ladies might have some other ideas!

Re: Gift for DCP from son?

  • What is your price point?

I would be tempted to a do some type of Christmas ornament so she could remember him every year when she hangs it on her tree.  I wouldn't suggest this with most dcp's but she is like family I think it's nice to do something like that.

  • I like the jewelry idea- does she wear alex & ani?

You could photograph LO with a sign that says something along the lines of, 'I will miss you" or some other sentimental statement and put it on a mug using shutterfly.
  • I got one nanny a coffe mug with a collage of pictures of DS from snapfish

    My Charts since 2009

  • I do like the idea of a plant. She has been wanting a new Peony plant for her yard but this would not be a good time of year for something like that...

I do like the Alex & Ani idea. I'll have to check that out.

No specific price point but I was thinking around $100.

  • Honestly, I think jewelry is really specific to taste. I would never purchase it for somebody I didn't know really well. With that said, I don't have any real great ideas myself that are personal, ie not gift cards or cash.

  • For a regular teacher or provider, I wouldn't do something like an ornament because they get a million coffee mugs, ornaments, etc.  I go for practical but thoughtful.

Since this lady is like family to him and one of your friends, more personal works great.
  • All the ideas are great and thoughtful they may not be the most practical. As teacher, we often get gifts like the ones mentioned above and it is very thoughtful but not useful. A simple hand written note by your LO. You can write it and LO can copy it. LO can draw picture of the two of them together doing their favorite activity. A gift card to specific place she likes. It doesn't have to be a lot.
