When to switch to the car seat?

My daughter is still using her carrier and I'm wondering when to move her to the front faced car seat.  She only weighs 22 lbs but is quickly getting to big for her carrier.  A friend of mine gave me her car seat and it says to use for kids 30 lbs and over.  Any recommendations on when to switch her?

Hi, welcome. Why don't you tell us a bit about yourself?

As for your question, we switched to RF convertible back in January. My guy is only 19 lbs but was much happier in it than the bucket.

FF isn't really recommended until they are 2 or older, but your car seat should have rec's on it.

  • I would suggest doing some thorough research on up-to-date car seat safety.

  • I agree that you need to do some research. The height has a lot to do with the requirements as well. The infant seat I have for Ty said to stop using once his head is one inch from the top.

    This.
C is still 8 lbs under the weigh limit for his infant seat, but he has been in a convertible for a while now because he a outgrew the height limit.

  • Just want to echo pp - please do thorough research on car seat safety. You must follow the guidelines on seats. Also, since the seat has been used, you must know the full history (no accidents even miner, has been cleaned only according to manufacturer's instructions).
You should get a convertible seat to use for the meantime. It will rf for now and can later be used ff.

Thanks so much everyone!  This was greatly appreciated

    Welcome
Are you going to stay and hang out?!
  • You may want to check the height requirements for your infant car seat. My son weighs 21 lbs and is only in the 30th percentile for height, but was a half inch away from the max height at his year appointment several weeks ago.
  • So, are you just going to take your answer & peace out? :-??
