Wednesday Check In

How are you feeling today? What do you have to rant or rave about?

Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing ten years ago? Has your life's path taken any odd twists and turns along the way?

Re: Wednesday Check In

  • I feel so much better than yesterday! But I still don't want to get out of bed and go to work.

I generally like what I do, and I'm happy with my career. I am using my degree (urban planning) and working in my chosen specialization (historic preservation) in the public sector in a city with a good program. It did take me a while to get here, and I had to take a few jobs along the way that were not good fits or related to my interests. The worst was a job I had to take during the recession that required me to live out of town for ten months.

  • Feeling today: well rested, anxious about getting stuff done because school starts soooo soon!!!

10 years ago: I had a long term relationship (6 years) that I broke off and began dating then married my now DH after two years together.
I had my whole life planned out and then realized it wasn't what I wanted.

Another pretty good night of sleep.  :)  Excited that I don't have anything going on after work today, so I get to go home and chill.

I don't think I had any real plans 10 years ago.  I had just started working as a federal contractor, and I've moved around quite a bit in the industry, but still a secretary and fairly content.  It has been almost 9 years since I met my husband, so life has been pretty steady for me.  No super crazy surprises.  :)

I woke up last night when DH got home and didn't get any decent sleep after that. He sucks I'm blaming it on him

NO! I'm not at all. I went to college for Psychology but got really burnt out on school. I had a hard time staying focused. I ended up doing what I'm doing for $$ and sticking with it because DH decided to go back to school. I've basically spent the entire time supporting him which is awesome that I can do that and I know that he appreciates that. I just don't see a point in going back to school to dig ourselves into more debt at this time! But there's still a reason all my friends come to me with their problems. Haha!

  • I am still struggling with my glucose levels.  Had a good week and now this week it is crazy high again.  I am not feeling to good today.  I think I am trying to fight off a cold or allergy deal.  Also super stressed at work.  According to the office manager I could have this baby at anytime.  I told her probably not.  Ugh, last time I checked, none of the doctors and techs seem to be concerned.

Ten years ago I was almost done with college and had no idea what I was going to do.  I fell into a job and that lead me down a path that got me to this job.  It is a nice place to work but it is not glamorous or have anything to do with my degree (which also was not super glam).

I am very happy with how things ended up so far and curious to see what else is in store!

  • How are you feeling today? What do you have to rant or rave about?  Doing well.  Slept decently last night and my left hip isn't bothering me.

Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing ten years ago? Has your life's path taken any odd twists and turns along the way?  10 years ago I was dating DH and just started my first job in my career field (after floating in jobs for a few years and then getting an MA).  I had thought that I would have already at least one child and would have already left the DC metro area.  Well, those plans got delayed a few years due to IF.

How are you feeling today? What do you have to rant or rave about?  Feeling big today but otherwise fine.

Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing ten years ago? Has your life's path taken any odd twists and turns along the way?  Other than living in PA, I'm pretty much where I thought I would be in 10 years (I was in my second year of vet school and engaged to MH by then).  I just can't believe that I'm 33 already!

ETA: @MrsL2B glad you're feeling better! Hope it continues

Not feeling amazing. And we are moving tomorrow!!! So I need to pack. Shockingly, I am much more motivated right now than I am when I'm not pregnant.

Love this question. 10 years ago I was 15. I figured I would be an obstetrician when I grew up- which I'm not. My rebellious teenage self would hate my optimistic outlook, but I know 15 year old me would be thrilled that I am married to the man of my dreams and have everything I've always wanted because of this baby.
