Dolly Parton has a non-profit org that gives free age appropriate books to kids up to age 5. It is not available everywhere but it will let you know when you attempt to register if it is available in your area.

I signed up for it when DD1 was born and we have recieved a book every month, no payment information ever provided so it is definietly not a scam..

ETA: DD1 loves to get the mail to see if her new book has come yet

You could also maybe try your partents addresses if they live in a different city. Then depending on how close/far they are have them mail them to you or bring them during family visits.

We have been getting them for DS since he was born, and now DD. It is available in your area if someone has started a branch in your area. It is on a volunteer basis and there needs to be someone in your area to send out the books.

I checked this out when I was pregnant but not avaliable in my area. I was bummed but we were gifted enough books to fill our large shelf so I don't know what I would do with more anyway!
