Can I vent about work/coirkers?

I have coworkers that are habitually late for meetings.  I'm not talking 2-3 mins late - that happens when you're jammed with meetings and running from one to the next.  I mean 15-20 mins late.

I just had to get on a call requested by a coworker that ZOMG HAD TO HAPPEN TODAY.  We all scrambled, rearranged calendars, etc., to make it work.  He showed up 20 mins late for a 30 minute meeting, and was completely unprepared.  To make it even better, he's being rude to everyone on the call.  He blamed back-to-back meetings, but when I checked his calendar, he's only had 2 meetings today.

It's so frustrating when I have to waste my time because others can't get their acts together.

  • Two of my per peeves in one post. Being habitually late without a great excuse shows that you believe your time is more valuable than mine. And if you call a meeting, by god you better have your shit together and run your damn meeting. I had a coworker who has since retired who would call a meeting, have a cast of thousands, give the meeting some cryptic name, and then when we all showed up would have no clue why we were meeting. Several times he turned to me and declared I had called the meeting and asked what I wanted to talk about. He outranked me by a lot, so at first I tried to roll with it, but I finally just started saying "Ni, I didn't, Doug. I have no clue why you set this meeting up." I thought he had some sort of dementia but people told me he had been that way for 30 Yeats.

  • You described my boss.
  • Was it a conference call or in person meeting? Where I work, no one waits more than like 5 min max. I wouldn't even have waited as long as you did. He should be glad you all stayed and waited for him.

  • Ugg, that's frustrating.  What is it with people?  I was on a nationwide conference call today and even after numerous reminders to mute their phones, we could still hear people talking in the background.

This kills me!! Happens all the time with my company.
