What did you do first? I have this fear that we will bring home baby, place the car seat in the middle of the floor and think "oh shit, now what." FTM obviously
Haha FTM here too, I'm pretty sure we picked him up and then ordered a pizza. It's a bit fuzzy since I haven't really slept in two weeks lol. LO will give you something to do, a diaper change, a feeding, something. Or you will just stare at him/her. You will find your new normal .
Haha that's pretty much how it will go! We put the car seat down so the cats could investigate, ordered pizza, and then took our cues from LO. And there was, and still is, a fair amount of holding the LO and starring at him and trying to believe he's really yours and you don't have to give them back!

@lappyfoinker that sounds amazing. Id love for it to go this smoothly. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they're going to shit their pants when they get home hahaha
We came home and my mom had made us lunch. Then DH put DS down for a nap, I feed DD and then handed her off to my mom. DH and I both took naps after that. It was nice.

This was how it was with my first. This time my toddler was keeping me busy so MIL was holding DS2. Then I had to clean and do laundry and dishes since MIL hadn't done any of that (my house was clean when I went into labor, I came home to a wreck)

Ahhhh this is my fear!! My in laws will be spending the nights we are at the hospital at our house. I will be so upset if my nice clean house is a disaster for I our home coming!
This time around I think we put the baby in the bouncer, or I nursed and then put him in the bouncer (I can't remember). Pretty sure he slept for awhile after we got home. Then I proceeded to unpack the hospital bags immediately.
With our first we were having new carpet installed in our family room the day we came home (I wasn't expecting to have the baby already...I had just started maternity leave and it seemed convenient since I thought I would be home). My MIL was there to let the carpet people in. She cooked us some lunch while the baby slept in his rock and play. I also had to pump immediately since he wasn't latching.

This is exactly why I'm not letting my MIL stay at the house while we're in the hospital. Housekeeping company is coming for a deep cleaning the day before my c-section and I'm not going to risk my money being wasted with a quick destroying of their work.

I'm trying to remember, my husband worked the day he was discharged so he was impatiently waiting for us. We had 2 extra weeks since our little guy needed some growing time in special care. We just kind of stared at him for a bit. We had like 5 bags of stuff from the hospital and people so we sorted through that.
We came home today. That is basically what happened. We put him down, ate a quick lunch, and I took a quick nap since he fell asleep in the car. The rest of the day has been trying to relax, changing him, feeding him, and trying to help him sleep. Tomorrow will be the real test when our DD comes back from Nana's.
Our little one had yet to latch so when we got home I pulled out the breast pump and started to learn how to use it/clean parts while DH went to BAbies r us to get a few pump things we were missing (honestly thought I wouldn't pump until she was 4-6 weeks old and she came 2 weeks early). So have stuff like that ready to go, it was a little stressful .
There were also many moments of staring and wondering what to do with her!
Most of day 1 at home was figuring out how and where to set up our baby gear. My MILL has been here since Saturday to help out, and she has been monumental in helping to clean the house and grocery shop/cook. I've been strapped to my pump and she's kinda taken over some baby care stuff like giving him baths, feeding, changing his outfits; and that's the stuff driving me crazy right now. I want to be doing all that, not sitting around being a milk truck. She leaves Friday am, and it can't come sooner. Next visit will be limited to fewer days.
First thing I did was set the car seat down in the middle of the floor and stare at her until I could no longer ignore the grumbles in my tummy.. After that, I ate Zaxby's. Can't remember much beyond that.
