daycare next room transition

LO transitioned to next room up from nursery today. It was not a good day. They said she cried a lot. They moved her back to nursery later in the day. She wasn't the only one who transitioned starting today and 3 other LO had same bad day as A. For those of you who have had LO move to next room, how long did it take? Anything to help them get used to new room/new teachers. Bc of her slow crawling, she's been in nursery a little longer (one yr this month). I feel so bad for her but its definitely time for her to move to next room.

Re: daycare next room transition

  • They moved A part-time the second week of May (she was almost 11 months). She did a one week transition and then was in the new room full-time. She is super easy going (about stuff like this at least) and adjusted easily. The only part of her new room we are still working on is ditching the bottles. But that's not a requirement, just something they work with the kids on.

  • LO didn't have any problems transitioning between rooms, but they also moved up his two best daycare friends on the same day, the ones he always played with in the infant room. I think that helped a lot. Also, he had already interacted with the toddler teachers before moving up.
  • Yeah, they really didn't transition her over weeks before which is the problem. i sat with her this morning with one of the new teachers for awhile and played which helped a little so we'll see how rest of week goes.

  • We are starting our transition this week and will move for good in 2 weeks. His new teacher was also the teacher in the infant room when he first started so he's very comfortable with her.

  • We transitioned for a week too. Drop offs have sucked. (Today was day 3). But after we leave she is fine
