Phone charger, camera, black pajamas or nightgown, face wipes, shower essentials, your own pillow (hospital ones suck), snacks for you and husband, iPad with movies or shows on it, going home clothes for you and baby. I always swear dresses because it's the most comfortable for me after birthing babies. You really don't need too much stuff.
I procrastinated and ended up throwing random stuff into a bag at the last minute.
Things I brought:
Cell phone & Charger iPad & Charger Camera Going home clothes for me Going home clothes for baby Pillow for DH Hairbrush & hair ties Toothbrush & Toothpaste
Things I wish I packed:
Shampoo & Conditioner (the hospital only had body soap) My own towel (the hospital ones were tiny and thin) Socks Pillow for myself
Check with your hospital to see what they provide for you and baby. The only thing we needed to bring for LO was a take home outfit, they supplied everything else for him. I also only wore the hospital gown while there, it made it really easy for breastfeeding and using the restroom.

Why black pajamas? Just curious lol
Black because if you do bleed through then it won't show and it's slimming. You're already feeling gross after having a baby so I always figure why not try to look a little more chic in black.
I'm kind of an overpacker and I was last time too, but it works for me (also, note that I'm having a c/s so planning on a longer stay):
2 pair of nursing pajamas - I didn't worry about them being black. but I like the type that are pants, cami with the nursing clips, and a wrap.
Going-home outfit for me (maternity jeans and a top, but likely it will just be yoga pants)
Slippers / slipper socks
Flip flops for shower
Pillow
Toiletries (including hand lotion that I love and that relaxes me - aveda! - Nursing pads - I'm
leaking colostrum already - and Nipple cream
Eye pillow - they come in and out of your room all night, this helped me
Compression socks to help with swelling
Nursing tank / bra
iPad / iPhone / camera / chargers
If I get her baby book in time, I might bring it with so I can start working on it
Power strip - again, this sounds crazy, but there weren't really many outlets in our room last time, which made it hard for both of us to keep phones and cameras and computers charged (agian, long hospital stay)
I packed as if I was going on a weekend trip. In addition to what pp said, bring your own towel for showering. I don't know if all hospitals are like mine, but the towels they gave me for showering were like the size of a hand towel. Thank god I had my own towel with me. I also brought a hair dryer because I hate having wet hair.
Snacks are also key. Hospital food generally sucks, and it was nice to have some healthy snacks around. I had packed them for labor, but didn't eat them until afterwards.

Good call on the towel. Sucked at mine as well. Food at my hospital was actually pretty awesome but snacks are always a good idea for between meals.
Go home outfit for you and baby - I wore the hospital gown and mesh underwear the whole time - I didn't want to bleed on my own clothes. Definitely suggest a dress or yoga type pants. No need to put on a fashion show, you won't feel fabulous either way. We brought an extra outfit for DD just in case.
Toiletries for shower, teeth and hair - towels at my hospital were comparable to a Holiday Inn, so not bad.
Phone, camera, chargers - iPad if you use it, I just use my phone. Brought a laptop/movies last time but if I wanted to relax when DD was sleeping I just watched a little TV and went to sleep. If I was being induced I'd reconsider the movies.
Boppy if you're breastfeeding - I sent my DH home for this, it was a life saver!
Snacks for your SO - they don't get fed at the hospital and my DH didn't want to leave the room for a while but I knew he'd be hungry. I didn't feel the need for any other food but what the hospital gave me. They had pretty good food

If you're a minimalist I'd bring:
