Ok. I realized yesterday that it is the long threads that are an issue. What I type is not what comes up and it takes minutes a word.
What I was trying to say is that some doctors will now refer at 12 month appt because often they don't see LO again until 18 or 24 months and if they are behind then, they are normally pretty behind because so much acquisition occurs in this year. So, while annoying or surprising, I actually =D> a doctor who doesn't just say "we will wait until the 2 year appt". Also, it may be if the referral was for EI that doc knows there is a long wait in your state for SLPs/evals - we sometimes had kids who by the time I picked them up had been waiting almost a year and were about to age out.
That said, it sounds like LO is developing communication skills and is within normal limits for development at this point. Go with your gut. You could always get an eval but wait on services - it will give you a baseline.

Hope the murmur works itself out. Hugs!

Just saw this. Mobile makes for bad tagging
Thank you so much!!! I totally hear what you are saying. However WI has a free program for evaluating developmental delays, plus we see our pedi every 3 months thru the second year. Im truly not worried about her speech though. I feel like I know my kid and she is about to be very verbal. I just wish docs weren't so doctor-ish sometimes... ya know what I mean?
The ECHO results has me a little goofy though. Everything is gonna be fine with her heart. But I'm a damn cardiac surgical nurse!! I know she has holes in her heart! Why haven't they closed up already, damn it?!?!
I need to get a grip. For real.
