2nd Trimester

anyone else getting bad car sickness?

So before pregnancy I would get car sick if I would try and read in the car... now during pregnancy if someone else is driving, regardless of where I am sitting in the car I get terribly car sick and feel awful for hours. Anyone else having this problem?  Any tricks?

  • Yuppp! I seriously bring a bucket w bags now. :((
  • Try sea bands. They seem to do the trick for my SIL. Sorry you are dealing with this :(

  • If I'm not driving then I'm more likely to feel sick and when I do, I have to keep my eyes closed and do deep breathing exercises
  • I too have noticed that I get more car sick when I am not driving. If I am driving I am OK!
  • I had to keep a sleeve of Saltine Crackers in the car, it seemed to help me out a lot.
  • haha oh no @kyliedaniellexx there is no more reading in the car lol!  My ob/gyn yesterday mentioned it being okay to use dramamine. I can cope with short car rides to the store/ in laws... but anything over 30 mins and yikes.  We have a trip planned for a wedding that will be a 3ish hour drive... and 2 other trips to my parents and a diff wedding so i'm hoping it'll help with those.  thanks everyone for your input!

  • Between weeks 6-11 I could hardly make it 10 minutes without extreme nausea in the car. Now (15 weeks) it has improved greatly but I still have my moments. I have found sucking on ginger mints in the car helps a lot!
  • Yeah it kills me. Last time I would get sick at least 3 times in a 30 minute trip. Yuck.

And there was that memorable time when I got sick while driving.

I carry a plastic folgers container with double bags in Both mine and DH's car.
