Night Sweats

Is anyone else experiencing night sweats? I wake up soaking wet from my neck to belly button. I thought I was leaking milk, but my bra was dry. It's very annoying bc I freeze to death every time I get up to nurse. If you've had them, have they gone away? (DS2 is only 2 weeks old.)

Re: Night Sweats

  • My LO is also two weeks. Don't have any advice but I am dealing with the same thing. Freezing when I go to bed or wake up to nurse but wake up sweaty and soaked. But some of mine unfortunately is also milk :P

  • Totally normal. I had the night sweats until 3 weeks pp

  • Had them with DS1. I slept on a towel & kept a dry towel & shirt next to my bed. I think they lasted 3-4 weeks.
  • Same here!

  • Totally normal! As awful as it is to be wake up soaked I was grateful to have finally sweated out my cankles! The joys if pregnancy; between the sweats and sensitive nipples I was both hot and wearing a bathrobe in July! They only lasted until the third week for me, so know the end is in sight!
  • I've been having night sweats but didn't realize what they were. Thought it was milk til I read this thread, especially cause my bras are always soaked. Two and a half weeks postpartum here. Interesting to know what's really going on and the reason.
  • Yep. Sweatin like a hoe in church! Ugh
  • I had night sweats for the first couple of weeks as well. They're the worst!
  • Mine stopped right after 2 weeks PP

  • Wow. Who knew? I related all my night sweats to being sick, rather than baby stuff. Every night I was in the hospital, I would wake up soaked and freezing. I thought it was fever related. Guess not! It did stop for me by 3 weeks (or at least it did not happen once I got home!)
  • Stopped for me by 2 weeks the end of 2 weeks.

  • I'm 7 weeks pp and still experiencing it but during pregnancy I was in the hospital for fluid retention issues (40 pounds of fluid was the estimation of many doctors). So I guess it's not a shock mine would be so bad. I know they are miserable though!
OP, I hope yours (and everyone else's) come to an end soon.
  • DD is 1 month today and I still have them sometimes. I had my ob check up Monday and she said it was normal and could last a while. Boo.

  • I had one or two nights of bed-soaking sweats-- thankfully it only happened while we were at the hospital so there was someone else around to change my sheets and make me comfy. It was pretty yucky-- hope your sweats tame soon!

Yep. Normal. I've been changing our sheets every 2 days because our white sheets literally turn yellow where I sleep. It's gross.

  • I've been getting overall hot flashes. Not just during the night. Dr. said it had to do with my hormones coming in with my breast milk. But, I've had to keep my house an Ice box for this reason. It's so bad, I've been pulling out DS1's old winter onesies for Max just to make sure the excessive chill doesn't bother him.

  • Yes, I'm 4 weeks pp and am still having them. I wake up drenched in sweat. Not too pretty.
