TTC Troubles. any advice. I am a mama wan-a-be from south Jersey

Re: TTC Troubles. any advice. I am a mama wan-a-be from south Jersey

  • Hello everyone,

I am new to the concept of discussions here on the bump. I am a 29 year old and my husband is 33. We have been married 5 years and TTC on and off for over 2 years. I am having all kinds of female issues. On top of having a condition called vulvodynia I also have the following: Low Hormone counts in my Blood work, lack of estrogen and I have also not had a period/or ovulated in 2+ years. We were working with some Dr. out of Philadelphia who are amazing (thus how we found out all the above issues already) now they are sending me to a more local Fertility Dr. in South Jersey. We have out first appt in 2 weeks and I am really nervous. I have been taking my Basil Temp. every morning and also have been taking an ovulation test EVERYDAY and its NEVER positive. Which can be very disappointing and frustrating. I never really worried about getting prego throughout all this but I have to say its starting to make me a little nervous now. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also This is a silly question but if someone responds will I get an email so I know or do I have to keep checking the board? Thanks so much. and look forward to talking with you ladies on here.

  • Hey there, welcome to the boards but sorry you have to be here.  Hopefully the RE can help you get some answers and your stay will be short.

I don't get emails when someone posts on a thread I started.  I just check back periodically.

Welcome to the group. May your stay be short. I have no sound medical advice to provide, but don't be nervous. These doctors are well-trained in this specialty, have dealt with so many differing cases and want to help you get pregnant. Write down your questions ahead of time so you don't forget to ask all you want Believe me, I asked about the most tiny, nit-picky stuff. Good luck!
  • Welcome, although sorry you find yourself here.

I'm sorry you've struggled with lack of periods and ovulation - I hope your appointment will give you lots of hope and relief about this whole process.

It it's frustrating wasting ovulation tests with no results, you can feel free to stop, since it's not providing important information to your doctor at this point, especially if you've gone years without a period. :) Once treatment starts, your doctor will probably use medication to induce ovulation, and then you also most likely won't need to worry about O tests or even temping because they'll keep you well monitored. :)

Before we go any further I have to know: Pats or Genos? (I grew up outside of Philly)

Not that you asked me, but they both suck!  You need to come to South Jersey and try Gaetano's.  That's where all the real Italians moved from Philly.

Exactly this!! They are both pretty bad IMO! My favorite cheese steaks come from local pizzerias in suburbs.

Welcome to the OP! I'm also a Jersey girl. Grew up in South J and moved up to Central 8 years ago. I hope you can get things sorted out soon :)

ETA: whoa, there are a lot of Jersey girls around here!! @irishtheatrechic‌ I go to the same clinic. Different doc though. Have you ever gone to the support group?

  • @sugar4bri‌ I see Dr. Mann at The Reproductive Science Center of NJ. A few people have recommended Dr. Damien and I called them and I'm thinking of trying them. They told me they have a discount program for OOP patients and that made me feel better. Who do you see? Oh and Go Giants!!! @irishtheatrechic‌ I'll look into Dr. Darter, he's one I haven't heard of, thanks!

  • @sugar4bri‌ I was actually referred to Dr. Ziegler by my OB also. When I called to make the new patient appointment I couldn't get in to see him for weeks but they said I could see Dr. Mann the next day, so I went to her. My OB also recommended Damien and so have a few others. I'm not sure if I just don't care for the staff at RSC or if I'm just frustrated bc I'm not pregnant yet! It's been stressing me out!

  • Totally biased here but Dr Damien constantly makes The top docs in te US list and his success rate is extremely high. I have 3 friends hwk have successfully become pregnant with him (two IVF on first cycle and one clomid). He's a bit abrupt but you can't argue with results! I'd be happy to give you more info if you're interested, just let me know :)@Hollowvic‌

  • *pregnancy mentioned* I was told by my OB when he referred both that Dr. Damien doesn't have the best bedside manner, but is excellent. He said Ziegler has a better BS manner, but I ended up with Dr. Mann not Ziegler, I think that's where the problem lies. The co-worker who recommended Dr. Damien said he has bad BS manner but he got her pregnant and that's all she cared about. @ champs28 I'm going to give Damien a try, he comes. Wry highly recommended, thanks so much, I know I can ask you if I need any info or advice. @sugar4bri‌ I think if I was seeing Ziegler I would be happier, I made the mistake of taking an appointment with Dr. Mann!

  • @Hollowvic - I really like Dr. Darder. He is really proactive and straight forward. We saw him for the first time on July 21st, and by Friday all of our testing will be done and we have a "planning" appointment with him for the 20th. Plus they do all their testing in house which is great.

@RunCC37- I haven't been to the group because I didn't know there was one! When does it meet?
@irishtheatrechic - it's usually the first Wednesday of the month, though they sometimes reschedule it to make it work with their new evening hours. I would assume the next one is on September 3rd, but I'll definitely call and confirm the week of to make sure.
