At night we can usually put DS (4.5 months old) in his crib after he has fallen asleep nursing or having a bottle or else he'll soothe himself to sleep. He may need the occasional bouncing of the mattress for a couple minutes. Naps are a different story though. He naps in a pack-n-play but I have to hold, bounce, and pat his back until he's asleep, then usually wait a good 10 minutes before I attempt to put him down. How do I get away from this method?? I am a nanny and he comes to work with me. It's getting to be very difficult to get him down for naps if the other child isn't napping too because of how long it takes. Any suggestions? Have I been doing the bounce thing for too long that now he's used to it?

Re: How to transition from rocking/bouncing baby to sleep to not having to rock/bounce?
Eta- our ped said we could start "sleep training" to break the rocking habit and get him to fall asleep in his own but I'm not ok with it yet
I've been trying to bounce him just until he's sleepy and then put him down, but he wakes up right away and cries, which then seems to wake him up even more.
