Baby Meet and Greets

So between the different places that I work, my husband's place of employment, my mom's, etc. everyone wants me to "bring the baby in."  Of course I have no interest in doing this until she's older.  I'm assuming that many of you will take your babies out to meet people at some point, but when?  I plan to talk to her pediatrician at her one month appointment, but probably won't take her out with the intent of showing her off until she's around 2 months old.  Is that long enough?  I just really want to avoid illness as much as possible.

    I think 2 months or later is reasonable. You'll probably at least want to wait until she's had her first round of shots.

    We'll probably host a "Sip and See" with our friends and family a week or two after birth. This might seem early to some people, but last time, we had people calling daily to come see DD, and it felt like we were always cooking supper for someone new, or having people over for coffee to meet her. This time, I'd rather get it done the same day, so we can have more time to settle in as a family. We're simply going to order pizza, and have some wine and cake.

    I was told no large crowds until 6 weeks.

    I don't listen though and DS had already been to my office and out shopping.

    However, I don't pass him around until after the 6 week mark.

    My coworkers had to look and not touch.

    We did the visiting and all the passing around right away with DD. It was right at Christmas time and we went to many events and I didn't think anything of letting people hold her. It just never crossed my mind that it was something we shouldn't do. I've always held other family and friend's newborns too. It turned out fine. Will probably do the same thing again although i don't know if we will see so many people in the first few weeks this time since it's not the holiday season.
