Email address for your LO

I did this for DD1 and when we settled on a name for DD2 I did the same thing. Thought I would share with all you ladies.

Once we decided on our babies name I signed them up for a google email account (using their first and last name, example MarySmith@gmail.com) then I started emailing notes or photos to that email address about once a month or so. I figure when my daughters turn 18 I will hand over the email and password and they will have a few years worth of amazing emails from me from before they were even born! I have not shared the email address with anyone because I want the emails just from me and I check every few months and clear out any junk mail.

Just thought I would share this idea with all of you. It is kind of like a high tech diary!!

    I think in theory this is a great idea, but being in technology I don't see things being the same in 18 years. It will be interesting to see what "email" looks like or even the internet altogether.

    I just hope gmail doesn't go belly up in the next 18 years! Then all my emails will be lost!! Lol!!

    Maybe you could print them & make a book just in case. I know you can easily do this wih a blog. I'm sure it would be simple with emails.

    We save all of ours to the One Drive cloud. We will probably print hard copies, too, just to be safe.

    I know this is silly but I totally made my DS an email address with his name on it so that I could set up a southwest frequent flyer rewards account with him! I'm glad I did too because now in 10 years when all the good domains are taken he will thank his mama! I plan to do the same thing for DD once she is named.

    I have a friend who did this and something happened with her email. She's not even sure what the problem was, but she ended up losing all of her emails :( Definitely print them or at least save them to a Flash Drive too. I think we're going old-school and just keeping a binder with hand-written letters and printed photos. Still along the same lines.
