What is your LO sleeping in on Vacation?

We are about to make a trip up north to my in laws house. Last time we went on vacation I put my son on a PnP, which he slept ok in but ultimately ended up in bed with us.  (He always ends up in bed with us sleeping at strange places).  Anyways I am wondering if a two year old 29.6lbs is too big for a PnP play yard or if it still okay since he does not try to climb? Thoughts?

  • We still put Dagny in the pack n play. She's getting long for it but still sleeps well so we still use it.

  • Blow up toddler mattress we bought at Walmart. It's been a lifesaver and it can fit in my suitcase. She loves it

  • PnP. She's still in her crib at home so she needs the "walls"!

  • A is usually in bed with us on vacations, but we just got him Joovy Foocot. It's $70 (although we won it).

  • Slept in the spare bedroom in the bed. Doing fab it in. Used dining room chairs along the side so he doesn't fall out and extra pillows all around.

  • We took a queen sized air mattress for our two girls. We put it next to our bed.

  • We have lucked out in that we have stayed in a place with a very large closet for every vaca we have taken with K so far. He has slept in a crib in the closet. LOL.

I am extremely nervous about our trip to see MH's family in Chicago over the holidays this year. We will be in a hotel room and K has never slept in the same room as us since he was like 3 weeks old. It will be interesting.

  • @lewispm‌ We always put Emma in the closet too. I'm so glad to hear we aren't the only ones! When we stayed in a single room hotel a few months ago we built a little sheet wall between her PNP and our bed. Then we sat on the balcony until she fell asleep. If there isn't a balcony you could sit in the hallway or bathroom so he can't see you. It worked great for us. I don't think she noticed we were in there.
I am thinking we will definitely have to rig some kind of wall or something. And we will sit in complete darkness and utter silence the entire night for fear of waking him, I'm sure. I have no clue what our room is like, but I'm hoping there will be some kind of entryway or even a huge bathroom that we can put him in. I wouldn't mind trekking to the lobby all night to pee if it meant he was sleeping soundly!
