March 2015 Moms

My first post hello mommies

I am not that new on here but I have read and commented on other post before I got the courage to actually post one of my own. I am pregnant again unexpected but still a joy. I am looking for a few mommies that I can have for support and provide support as well. I am disabled, I have asthma which has gotten worse since becoming pregnant, I have diabetes, severe allergies, and overweight. I feel like I am getting depressed with this pregnancy versus my other ones because my health has gotten worse over the years. I was also on a diet and planning for a serious weight loss plan until I got the news that I'm expecting and now I can't lose weight. I had to stop half of my meds until the middle of the second trimester because they are not good which is causing some bad reactions for me. I'm so tired I have no energy and it's hard to sleep. I feel alone because everyone else I know is in good shape and I haven't told anyone yet because I'm waiting until my second trimester. Any advice or comfort would be nice and I will do the same in return. I would appreciate if you don't have anything supportive to say to ignore my intro because I would never do thy to anyone else on here. I am here to read some info and entertainment, and for support since I don't have much right now which I'm sure most mommies are doing. Thanks in advance and I look forward to chatting with you all and wishing you all a safe and enjoyable pregnancy and birth.

  • Welcome and I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy! I don't have much advice, but have had exercise induced and allergy induced asthma before and breathing exercises have been so helpful in those cases. Might be good practice for birth time too? Although I'm a FTM, so you might know even better than me!

  • Welcome and congratulations! I second what PPs have said - you need to bring up all of these concerns with a doctor and it sounds like you might already want to seek help from a counselor or therapist. If you're already feeling depressed, you will want to get some help now before it gets worse as your pregnancy continues, and then postpartum.
  • Welcome and congratulations! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

  • Welcome and congrats! And my thoughts and prayers are with you ! Hope you have a H and H nine months
  • Congrats and welcome!! I agree with pp. Definitely bring up all of your concerns to the doctor. Maybe try to make a point of eating healthier (not to just lose weight, but as a side benefit). I know you mentioned a disability, but is there any sort of light exercises you can do? Light exercise like walking or even some light swimming (or walking in a pool) for 30 mins a day will not only help baby's health and well-being, but also help with mommy's health and even mood as well. :)
  • Congratulations! Good luck and I hope you have H&H pregnancy!

I definitely agree with the others who have mentioned talking to your doctor as well as looking into finding a therapist. If you are already depressed, your edpression is only going to get worse as your hormone levels rise. Good luck to you! There are a lot of supportive women on these boards!

It took my husband and I over two years to have a successful pregnancy... Try to see the blessings of your pregnancy:) It is a true gift.
  • Thank you all for the support and kind words and advice. I have expressed a few with my regular ob but I think I will mention it to my high risk ob because my reg ob didn't seem to help much. I had only typed a few things but didn't go into great detail but I do take a diabetic health class very week and I have changed the way I eat dramatically. I don't have friends I have tried walking every day but this fatigue and heat is killing me as I do live in the valley so by the time it cools off I'm tired and ready for bed :(. I never really noticed how much I would miss my meds but I am so grateful to have another blessing in my family. I will look into a therapist this week and will continue to do my best at a h&h pregnancy. Thanks everyone
  • Welcome! Others have given great advice. I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!!
  • Welcome and congrats on your little one!  I agree with the PPs that you should definitely inform your doctor about your concerns and try to deal with the depression now.  You want to be able to enjoy the amazing baby growing inside of you once born.  Depression will take that away from you.  Please seek help, and congrats again!
