Spitting up

Ds2 is 12 days old. Today he has been very gassy and has started spitting up. He then acts ravenous. I'm not sure whether to feed him every time he acts hungry or if he's overeating bc he has a belly ache. My first son was FF and had reflux, and he'd want to eat all the time. :( Any ideas?

Re: Spitting up

  • I have the same question. DD is 10 days old and sometimes spits up a large amount-do I feed again afterwards? Or let her tummy rest?

  • Well my dd is 12 weeks old but recently we had issues with her spitting up much more than usual. I started just offering her one breast at a time and that has helped a lot. If I offer both, she will eat and eat. Which causes her to spit up because she's over eating. So I offer one side and when she's done 9/10 she's content but sometimes she does need both. And I don't feed her again after she spits up unless she's showing signs she's hungry. I just let her tummy work things out and she's fine. Normally feed her every 1.5-2 hours during the day.

Spitting up is totally normal and nothing to worry about. My second son who is 7 months old is still spitting up. It often looks like more volume than it really is. I don't feed again after the spit up, I wait until he's hungry again for the next feeding. But if the spit up happens in the middle if a feeding, I keep feeding.
