Going good as usual. It's hard to think I may have to give it up soon

EBF, and giving her a bottle of BM or F at night now. Just gives me a break

No challenges, except she likes to scratch and wave her arms around and kick off me or the couch or wherever. So I think I'm going to get a little teething necklace for her to play with

Only rant I have is that I get a little frustrated when she kicks me during our motn feedings. It's annoying

I have fed in public. Kind of. I have fed her at hooters (go figure), Dhs work, the mall several times. Yesterday in the car while I waited for my MIL

@MK1013 glad to hear you're making it through the mastitis and getting through the antibiotics. I hope things settle down for you soon.

@Lissiehoya‌ I really hope you get the abscess taken care of and is a painless process and quick recovery!

    How's it going? Really well!

    How old? 11 weeks

Between feeding? Sleep? 2-4 hours during the day. For sleep we just went from a long stretch of 2-3 hours to a long stretch of 5-6 hours for the last three days. I'm hoping this trend lasts. I still only get 1-2 hours after that, but we're making progress.

    Ebf and pumping at work

Challenges? Nothing really with breastfeeding. Except I had a horrible dream where I pulled a ribbon coming out of my nipple and my boob unraveled. Talk about disgusting and disturbing.

Rants and raves? Don't know if it's a rant it rave yet but DD (older) got a stomach bug and I'm praying bf'ing or pure luck will keep DS from getting it! Raves: DS has been taking a bottle like a champ at daycare and even took one from me after a little fuss. And he seems like he's happier and he's sleeping better at night. It also coincided with the end of his second developmental leap per wonder weeks. I think there may really be something there!

Nip? With a toddler And working full time we just don't get out so not really.

Anything else? My poochy stomach is really starting to get to me. I need to find the time and motivation to do something about it. Ugh.

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
    Not too bad.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest you get to sleep at night?
She is 11.5 weeks. Right now it's anywhere between 1.5-3 hours. Longest stretch at night seems to be about five hours.

    EBF, EP, supplementing?
EBF with two pumped bottles at night (bedtime bottle and MOTN bottle)

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?
She seems to be spitting up more often, so switched to just offering one side. It has helped keep everything down, but now feelings are closer together.

     Raves and rants?
Tired of trying to remember which boob I fed her from last but happy she's getting what she needs.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week?
Yes. And fed her in the car the other night since we were out longer than expected.

Anything else you want to share?

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
Feeling discouraged. Started back to work on Wed and have been pumping. It's exhausting and time consuming and I barely get enough for a 3 oz bottle each time. I feel like btwn pump sessions I don't get any work done. When I'm home it's fine but I think my supply is tanking. See rant for rest of details :)

    How old is LO ?
    12 weeks on Sunday.
    How long between feedings?
2-3 hrs during day (mostly 2)

What is the longest you get to sleep at night? So... 2 weeks ago we were getting 5-7 hr stretches and then she totally regressed and we've been getting only 2-4 hrs. It's been so hard and I feel like a Zombie at work.

EBF, EP, supplementing? We've always been EBF until this week where I have introduced formula here and there (usually after a feeding to get her used to taste) and she doesn't take much. I just didn't have much of a stash and wanted a backup plan if something happened w me being away from her at lunch. Pumpimg and BM bottles during day now that I'm at work.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?
Soooo last night I nursed her before bed as usual and she was still fussy and seemed hungry. I made up a 3oz bottle of formula and she chugged it. Aaaand she just did a 7 hr stretch. I really think that over the past 2 weeks she's not been getting enough to eat. Sure she is still wetting diapers and having BMs but I think she was getting smaller amounts more frequently which led to her sleeping less too.

    Raves and rants?
All of the above are my rants. Rave is that when I'm home w her BF usually goes well and is easy. She also is taking her bottles well at DC after fighting them for so long

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week?
I feed her when we are out to eat. Usually no problem but last wknd she was fussy on the boob and attracting all kinds of attention.

Anything else you want to share?
I'm really feeling discouraged that the pumping at work is so hard and that I'm not getting much milk from it. I may end up going down to 2 pump sessions and start supplanting with 1-2 bottles of formula a day. It makes me sad but it also makes me sad to think she isn't eating enough. :-(. I hope I can at least keep this up till she is 4-6 months. Even if we are supplimenting I still want to make sure she is also getting BM.
    Sorry so long....
  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
Pretty good. Some pain has returned as he's back to comfort nursing.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest you get to sleep at night?
DS is 12 weeks/3 months. During the day he's.1.5 to 2 hours between feedings and at night 5 to 7 hours then 2 to 3 after the long stretch. So I average 2 feedings a night.

    EBF, EP, supplementing?
    Still ebf :)

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?
He's comfort nursing again and what I'm guessing is building up more supply. We travelled this weekend which set it off. He just wanted his momma and not the people he was being passed around too. We had two big meet the baby parties. But ds did really well.

    Raves and rants?
My nips are sore. But it will pass.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week?
    I do.

  • How's breastfeeding going this week? Very well

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest you get to sleep at night? 12 weeks, usually 2.5-3 hours but I think we hit the 3 month growth spurt, yesterday was more like 1.5 hours and his routine looked more like E-A-E-S. He's consistently been doing 8 hours overnight for 1.5 weeks now, feeds and then back down for 2ish hours

    EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? none

Raves and rants? Still can't find a comfy nursing bra, does such a thing exist?

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week?
Anything else you want to share? Nursed in public a few times now. This week a bench on the jogging trail. It's a lot easier now that he doesn't need any help latching, just wave nipple somewhere near his mouth and he finds it
  • Going well. Still EBF. Little bit of a hiccup this week when my supply took a hit (doc had me start provera to induce af to put an iud in...so I had the typical dip before af arrives start up)

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
Good, except for I worked Monday and she only ate 2 oz of pumped milk when I was gone 9 hours.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest you get to sleep at night?
9 weeks. 3 hours but will do one 8 hour stretch at night. I can get close to 6 hours of sleep. I could get more but don't want to go to bed at 8pm when LO does.
    EBF, EP, supplementing?  EBF
What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? I'm scared that she hates bottles. I go back to work in two weeks. I don't want her to scream all day at daycare. Take the bottle baby! It's still mom's milk!
    Raves and rants?
I'm starting to not dislike nursing. Now that she's closer to a schedule I even was able to leave and get my haircut. I feel like I'm getting more freedom since she's gong to bed at 8pm.
Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week?
Many times but mostly in the car. Now she's starting to scream when I take her off the boob (even though she's not eating), so that should be fun in public. We're going out of town this weekend, so I'll get a lot of practice...

Anything else you want to share? Not looking forward to starting my new teaching job and already having to talk to them about pumping.

How's breastfeeding going this week?   A little discouraged this week.  He is fussy on the boop and screams sometimes while burping.  He has a mild case of silent reflux that comes and goes, so it may be that, but I hate worrying if it is something I've eaten.

    How old is LO ?
    10 weeks, 3 days.
How long between feedings? What is the longest you get to sleep at night?

He's had a couple of 5 hour stretches at night, but usully closer to 4.  And like previously mentioned, that long stretch usually starts around 830, so I should go to sleep then too, but I never do.   After the long stretch, it is usually a series of 2 hours.
     EBF, EP, supplementing?
EBF and pumping for bottles during the day as needed while I work.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?   I returned to work this week.  I work from home and we're trying to work out a routine so that I can breastfeed him when I'm available and that DH or nanny can feed him a bottle of pumped milk when I'm tied up.   The first day didn't go well.  He just wanted me I think and cried a lot.  And my boss heard him crying over the phone.   The second day was a bit better, but I'm stressed out that our plan to keep him at home might not work.

Raves and rants?   Rave:  I still really love breastfeeding.  Rant:  I hate the worry caused by wondering if I'm eating something that might be upsetting his tummy. I'm going dairy free for 2 weeks to see if his fussiness improves.  Of course, his fussiness may also be caused by the change to our routine or a leap, so who is to say that if things get better it is even the diet change on my part?   Ugh!

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week?  At music class, while getting a pedicure and at brunch with my inlaws.   Brunch was the only place that I felt like I needed to use a blanket, as I was seated directly across from my FIL and it seemed weird.

Anything else you want to share?
Good luck @lissiehoya - that sounds dreadful!  @kellyq116 - I'm sorry you're feeling discouraged.  I hate pumping too.

It's going meh. Ups and downs. She was exactly 3 months old yesterday. I'd forgotten there was a 3 month growth spurt -that might explain some things. I'm also scared in advance of the "4 month wakeful " I've seen mentioned even though I don't really know what it is.

I think she more often goes 2 hours between daytime feedings now especially if there's other stuff to entertain her but I stink at keeping track of time. I think she's also quicker at it now except she still also wants lots of comfort nursing.

Night had gotten worse - was 4-5 hours for first stretch now 3 or 3.5. Then 1-3. She likes to sleep in in the morning (as do i) but I'm about to start back to work which means leaving the house at 6am. So not looking forward to that! Also I'm really hoping she won't repeat last night's episode of being awake from 12:30-3:15 am! That was brutal.

    Challenges /rants:
I'm afraid maybe my supply is down and also really scared it will go down when I have to start back at work(school) and pump. It will be so hard to take those pumping breaks and not be stressed during them wondering what is going on in the classroom while I'm out. And trying to finish and get back on time.

Plus I think I have excess lipase or something - I noticed this week the pumped milk (what little I've managed to get since I'm always holding her even when not feeding else she cries so very hard to pump ever) is smelling/tasting nasty way too soon. Like, 2 days definitely by 3. Maybe even within 24 hours - still experimenting to pin down the time. It's both soapy and sour (like spitup) smelling/tasting. Either this is a new development or she didn't used to mind the taste since she took practice bottles last week or maybe week before and that milk was at least a day or two old. But I think now she might mind - have to experiment mire on that too. At least I didn't have much stash built up so won't waste much if she does hate the taste but still am stressed because already am struggling to build a stash and do practice bottles and am freaked about the logistics of pumping at work and even at home time to wash all those stupid parts and then if I have to scald the milk too - another PITA step plus it reduces some of the good stuff in the milk so is sad to have to do. Blah. I'm stopping taking DHA and calcium/magnesium to see if that helps but not too optimistic.

Also she's been pulling on my boob more and sometimes getting upset while nursing the last couple days and not just like how she is squirmy and pops off when she needs to burp. So that is not fun and is why I'm worried my supply may be down.

I talked on the phone with the LC here a couple weeks ago and she wasn't too helpful and didn't suggest coming in to se her in person (just generally not feeling confident and also pain which she agree with me us probably raynauds) so I'm not sure if shell be helpful and anyway now I don't even have time during her hours to see her. So I hope things will just get better next week!

Rave to try to make up for that rant : I just love DD so much and she's getting to be even more fun as she is so interactive now and just loves to smile at people and coo/babble. And even though it's a problem that she is so exclusively attached to me it's also nice to have that adoration to go with all this hard work. Also I'm excited to be going to a workshop all next week (science teaching stuff) to get some different intellectual stimulation and a break from my MIL! DD is coming with the to the workshop. So far she has seemed to enjoy meetings -I hope that will continue!

NIP- yep lots.need to get more nursing camis though because I'm more self conscious about someone maybe seeing my flabby glow in the dark pale belly than my boob! And work schedule will mean less frequent laundry so more changes of clothes needed

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?

How old is LO ? 10 weeks

How long between feedings? 1.5 to 3 hours, with one long stretch at night. Rave: new this week is sleeping through the night 6-9 hours straight.

What is the longest you get to sleep at night? I get up and pump even when she STTN, so maybe 4-5 hours? Then another 2-3 hours. Starting to feel halfway human again.

EBF, EP, supplementing? It's complicated. I'm BFing, pumping regularly after feedings, and supplementing with formula due to low supply. So so hard but I really want LO to have as much breastmilk as I cam give her, but she'd be starving wirhout the formula.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? This week has been really rocky. I was getting advice from family that I should stop BFing if I want LO to be able to gain weight like she should be. Then talked to a new pediatrician who told me I really should be BFing even more! So now I'm working with a new LC, taking supplements to boost supply, and letting LO nurse all the time if she wants to.

Raves and rants? Rants: I hate that I have low supply, and that with the big increase in nursing time my nips are feeling raw again. And I hate the SNS that the LC wants me to use. Raves: I'm so relieved and happy to be still BFing -- I was so worried that if I didn't give up breastfeeding I'd be a bad mama. And I love how much my daughter loves BFing and gazes adoringly up at me or clutches on tight to the boob to stake her claim.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week? I'm really not fussed about this now that she latches easily. Where? At Ikea, in the car, out to dinner/lunch, at the zoo.

Anything else you want to share? I'm really struggling this week with BFing/feeding issues in general. I've cried so many times about it this week. know I'm not depressed, it's just so stressful and I was so sad to think that I was being selfish wanting to contuue the closeness of BFing. I'm also confused because I don't know how long I can realistically keep up the commitment to pumping, BFing, and FFing all at nearly every feeding. I'm in need of support/words of wisdom.

  • How's breastfeeding going this week?
Still going well. Started back at work so that was an adjustment. Came home with 26oz. of breastmilk from my first night!

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest you get to sleep at night?
LO is 13 weeks, going on 14. He goes 3 hrs between during the day and sleeps 8-10 hrs at night. I just need to start getting better at sleeping. I still wake up.

    EBF, EP, supplementing?
EBF. I work 2 nights a week so he gets bottles of pumped milk when I'm gone.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?
    Haven't had any challenges

    Raves and rants?
LO has doubled his birthweight. Amazing what our bodies can do.

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week?
Anything else you want to share?
We've nursed in public plenty. I do it, but I'm still slightly uncomfortable with it.

  • How's breastfeeding going this week? It's going well overall.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest you get to sleep at night? He is 3 months.  Still wants to eat pretty often...every 1-2 hours during the day.  Though some of it I am beginning to think is just comfort sucking.
EBF, EP, supplementing?  EBF at home and pumping/bottles while I am at work.
What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? He keeps spitting up after I feed him, but doesn't have that problem with the bottles.  I am wondering if my flow is just a lot faster than the bottle.  We are going to try to change the nipple flow and see if that helps.
Raves and rants?  I just hate that he keeps spitting up.  He did it a bunch yesterday, which is really unusual.
Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week? Only in the car.
Anything else you want to share? Nope.
  • Things are going pretty good!

How old is LO ? 15w How long between feedings? 2 hours during the day. 6hr stretch at night then 4 hr stretch What is the longest you get to sleep at night? Depends when i go to bed sometimes 7 hours

    EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? Stuffy nose for dd causing some snot choking during feeding and pulling off a lot.

Raves and rants? I seriously adore breastfeeding. When she puts her lil hand on my breast to rest while eating and when she pushes her lil hands down on the breast like get in my mouth milk!

Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO this week? Restaurants mostly. Was at a wedding reception this weekend but my dress made it hard to be discrete so we went to the car for some quite mommy n mila time!

  • How's breastfeeding going this week? Better now that DS is healthy again and DD's growth spurt is over (see below).

How old is LO? How long between feedings? What is the longest you get to sleep at night? 11w5d; 2 hrs between feedings during the day; at night she gives us one 8-hr stretch followed by a 3- or 4-hr stretch.

EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF. No pumping, no bottles. I can't even be bothered to use my Milkies milk saver lately.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find? We had a double whammy last week. DS was sick and DD was going through a growth spurt. DS was throwing up, DD was hollering to eat, I had to change clothes and scrub up every time I switched from DS to DD... Total nightmare. I've never seen DS so sick before. Thank God no one else caught what he had. DD wanted lots of short nursing sessions, and she thrashed and fought me through all of them. She also added a MOTN feeding 3 nights in a row, which caught me by surprise. This week DD has relaxed through her feedings, but she increased my supply so much last week that now she's choking on the letdown and really refluxy throughout the day.

Raves and rants? I never thought I'd be EBF this long. I'm pretty proud of myself. No rants except that I'm still leaking like crazy but I haven't found nursing pads I'm 100% satisfied with.

Have you tried nursing in public yet? Where have you fed LO this week? Yes, and I hate it. I don't mind nursing in the car or around family members or close friends, but I have major anxiety in truly public places. I had to nurse at the table in a restaurant on the RiverWalk in San Antonio a couple of weeks ago and practically had an anxiety attack. My NIP anxiety is keeping me from leaving the house, which isn't fair to DS, but I don't know what to do about it. :(

  • @Lissiehoya No, I've been hesitant to make that kind of investment. Do they hold a lot of milk? Like...a lot, a lot? I bet I leak as much as 4 oz at night, especially now that DD is sleeping 8 hrs. It's insane.
