We are relocating. DH is already down there working at his new job and trying to find a place for us to live while I stay up here with DD trying to sell our house. His company has offered to fly me and DD down to see the area and figure out where we will be living.
The problem is that DD has So.Much.Stuff! I'm worried about her stroller/car seat getting damaged in cargo (we have the Uppababy Vista/Mesa - NOT risking that) as well as her pack n' play. I've said eff it - I trust him to pick a house, but it turns out that it's not that easy.
We plan on renting for 12-18 months until we figure out for sure where we want to buy. NO realtors want to be bothered helping us find a rental because that's not where they make their money. DH is super busy with his new job right now so he is looking, but if I could get down there I could really get it moving faster. Being apart just sucks.
So have any of you ladies travelled (plane) with LO yet? If so, how was it, what were you allowed to carry on/not put in cargo? Was it awful? Any advice is welcome.
Re: Has anyone travelled with baby?
He was a lap passenger, and slept the whole flight.
ETA: I packed a large Vera Bradley bag with changes of his clothes and everything we'd need should we get layed over, which almost happened. Pump, pjs, clothes for all three of us, essential toiletries, extra pampers.

Instead of taking the base, car seat, and stroller with me, I wore DD in the Ergo and rented a car seat and stroller while on vacation for $45 for 5 days.
Sounds like you are now planning to get your LO a seat. I was wondering if you were staying at a hotel. The Marriott we stayed at actually had pack n plays and we just used our own bedding.
I would recommend going extra early to airports. We had huge issues checking in our infant and missed one of our flights as a result.
Airports and planes are unpredictable for temperatures so bring lots of different weights of clothes. I also liked wearing our baby through the airport in his carrier.
Critical lesson learned: You can't have too many clean ziplock bags. Great for keeping clean things clean and dirty things from getting everything else dirty. Says the mama of a little girl who has one messy blowout a day, even on the road.
GL with the traveling and househunting!
