first IUI with two trigger shots?

Hi, all,

I've stalked posts for over a year now, and finally broke down and joined a forum. So! Here it goes:
<12 months no luck naturally>

One round clomid cd 5-9 w/ trigger shot and progesterone -- FAIL.



One round unmonitored clomid cd 5-9 -- FAIL.

We just did our first IUI with Clomid 100 mg days 3-7, trigger on Cd 14 and IUI on cd 15. They put me on estrogen patches a couple days before the trigger shot and then on estradiol, to use in conjunction with the patches. I went back today (3 days after IUI) for another "booster" hcg shot and started progesterone.

Has anyone else's Dr. done two Hcg injections? I feel like I'm on hormone overload. My good friend told me my bad attitude was probably hormonal and that's a good sign (she's a good friend) but I'm really not feeling very hopeful...

    Hi there, sorry for your struggles. 

    Are you diagnosed with a luteal phase deficiency or some other reason that your doctors have you on progesterone or a booster? I would ask the doctor why they are choosing to use it, it's not necessarily standard.

    I also want to ask, are you working with an RE? It doesn't sound right to do IUI the day after trigger, most do it 36 hours later (trigger at night, IUI the morning 2 days later). So I just wonder if you're getting expert care?

    Lol being "hormonal" on a Clomid cycle after two hCG shots (which are the pregnancy hormone) can't tell you anything about whether you're pregnant, so don't think it is a good or bad sign! :)

    I think it's just unexplained. My husband is fine... "Great" according to the nurses who washed his sample (thanks, Ladies).

    However, the reason our RE recommended IUI is because of the thought my CM may be "hostile." (Which I refuse to tell my husband because he may never let me live that down ;) )

    They put me on the estrogen and Estradiol to thicken my lining, which appears to have worked enough. I have no idea why they gave me the second shot and progesterone but they said it "helps make your lining sticky for implantation" -- which now that I think about it, I may have had the first time, too...

    After reading too many forums, I've wondered if we did the IUI too soon, as well. I usually don't get a positive opk until cd 17 but didn't bother to test... (kinda over it all, at the moment)

    I had my first IUI last month and they inseminated 24 hrs after the trigger shot with me too. After reading many posts here and others sites on the web it seems a lot of REs do it 36 hrs after. For IUI #2 I plan on asking my RE to inseminate 36 hrs after the trigger!
    Me: 37 DH: 37, married since Sept. 2013. "actively" TTC for a total of 13 months (after 7 months of TTC, took a 1 1/2 year hiatus due to work scheduling and wedding planning. Started up again after our wedding in Sept.) First evaluation by an RE November 2013

    HSG-normal
    OH-tiny polyp found, but RE assured me she doesn't think it's contributing to infertility and doesn't recommend me to remove it because it's so small.
    DH's SA-normal
    Hormones all within normal levels
    Ovarian Reserve-RE says "is great" she's not concerned about my egg quantity (which I was until I saw her and results came back good!) 

    04/2012 50mg Clomid=BFN (prescribed by OBGYN, not monitored)
    06/2012 50mg Clomid=BFN (prescribed by OBGYN, not monitored)
    11/2013 100mg Clomid, with HCG trigger=BFN (prescribed by RE, monitored with US (2 dominant follicles) and baseline bloodwork done)
    01/2014 100mg Clomid, with HCG trigger-(prescribed by RE, monitored with US-1 dominant follicle)=BFN
    06/2014 7.5mg Letrozole, HCG trigger (prescribed by RE, monitored with US-2 dominant follicles), IUI #1 on 7/3/14=BFN
    07/2014 7.5mg Letrozole, benched for IUI#2 this cycle, because I ovulated on my own before my follicular US. Progesterone suppositories=BFN Diagnosed with PCOS this month too. Testosterone levels high at 76. =( 
    08/2014 7.5mg Letrozole, HCG trigger with 19mm follicle. IUI#2 on 8/31 cancelled last minute due to family emergency. 
    09/2014 Taking a 3 month break starting this month. If not pregnant in 3 months, will start up again with medicated cycles and IUIs. Had all my labs and AFC re-evaluated this month also. RE says nothing much has changed since my eval last November, okay for me to take a little break. =)

    Apologies. I guess I just didn't think. I am posting in between meetings/work/life and it just didn't occur to me. I never meant to offend anyone... I've also never participated in any form of blog (no fb, no twitter or social media) so it never even doned on me how stupid that question was, until after I started reading other posts! I don't think anyone on here intends to offend anyone...

    My RE had me do a 2nd shot (or half of a full dosage) for the boost.  He did them for medicated cycles.  A few do it, although it's not as common.


    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!
    Camila Josephine arrived 4/30 :)
