DD1 received her ASD diagnosis last week and I hit the ground running calling our state's special needs and disability board, meeting with her school to go over her diagnosis (private school as it stands at the moment), and getting in touch with our pediatrician's special needs coordinator.
Today, we are working on getting the OT & ST up and running, just did the initial intake for the state's Autism Division program which will cover 30 hours/week of ABA (yay1) but has a 1.5 year wait (boo!), requested a service coordinator, and checking out the local public school Child Find program.
I think we are still sort of in shock/processing mode from the diagnosis, despite having initiating evals 1.5 years ago. Every time someone on the other end says "Autism" I sort of choke up. I know this will get better and I am very grateful that prior to DD1, I spent time myself working in Autism therapy, and now have a blended preschool class. It's just so different when you are the parent.
