Lactation consultants

When do you stop bugging them and rely on babes dr?

Dd has been having some terrible smelling green mucousy forceful diarrhea. Couple weeks ago she had one day of a bloody mucous in her stool. She had seen the dr and i took a stool sample and he didnt think anything of it just said if it gets worse call. Well now we have th diarrhea the last 4 days and im wondering whether to call the dr again or see if the lactation consultant i used to work with can help rule out a possible intolerance.

But dd is 3 1/2 months old so im wondering of lcs are for newer breastfeeding moms not ones who have the whole breastfeeding thing down.

Follow your gut.  I dismissed my LO's mucousy, stinky poo for months because she wasn't distressed, was growing well, etc.  It turns out she had a number of food allergies that were doing a number of her skin and tummy. We didn't take action until 8m when she reacted to the foods directly.  I can't help but wonder how much better things would have been if I would have followed more closely.

Was her mucousy poop her only symptom before her direct reaction?
