TTC After a Loss

Questions for PCOS Ladies

Hi Ladies,

Today was my ovary check u/s and to my pissed of surprise, I didn't get to see anything. After to abdominal u/s she shut the big monitor off then completed the transvaginal. I asked if I could see and she said no, not until the OB calls me after she reviews the results.

1. Did you have the same experience, or were you allowed to see?

2. What blood tests were done to confirm your PCOS?

3. What medication and/or treatment plan are you on?

The endocro. ran tests to check for PCOS but didn't say what she was checking. What I've researched there isn't a PCOS test...?

Thank you for reading. Last week after my first round of testing I was feeling like there was a clear plan and some explination. Now, I'm frustrated again, feeling like no one is explaining what's going on.

  • bluedaisy0627 Thanks for sharing! My long cycles with heavy, painful AF is why they checked for PCOS. I hope you get some answers soon too!

EurydiceNymph Thank you for the hugs! :) Rationally I knew there was a reason she couldn't show me, but in the moment I was so angry. I just wanted to see what she was seeing!! I have to confess I peeked at the machine when she left to room, but I couldn't see the tiny images. lol

mlal78 The Endocr. briefly mentioned Metformin as an option, then added if we get to that point. Have you noticed a difference in your cycles since you started the meds?

  • I don't remember what blood work was done vut it was a lot. Initially my OB's office diagnosed me based on the multiple cysts I had (I was told over ten I think was considered polycystic). They sent me for some blood work to confirm and did. Then I went to RE and he said that he was sending me for more specific tests to definitely confirm. This was at least eight vials. The only one I definitely know I was given was the two hour glucose test. Since the glucose test came back normal I want given metformin, but I was going to have hypothyroidism and a vitamin d deficiency. That's what I recall. He also confirmed via an internal u/s. Sorry I couldn't help more.
  • I was diagnosed at 15 by ultrasound and horrible irregular periods. I was a very thin teenager. I was on bcp's for 14 years. When I was on my own again they were very irregular for 6 years then I lost 70lbs obviously not a thin adult, my periods regulated to a 31 day cycle. I have done 3 rounds of femara. I wasn't put on met because I don't have the markers for insulin resistance. PCOS is different for everyone, hopefully your Dr will find the right plan for you.
