Thank you everyone for being so kind this weekend after my baby shower/absent husband debacle. I can already tell that this community is going to be helpful to me, as it is filled with a million sweethearts!!

Now for the bomb -- husbands best friend and his wife are pregnant. And were so excited to tell us. They got pregnant their first month trying. I can happily report that after wiping away some tears I did not break down!

We know how hard it is to deal with baby showers and friends getting pregnant first. It's so hard, and you'll find lots of support here! I'm glad you feel welcome! :)

It's great that you were able to keep it together for your husband's friends. It is so hard to hear announcements , but at the same time when they're your friends you do care and want them to have that too. I'm glad you're feeling good!

One little thing, usually if someone is going to post about a bfp/ pregnancy they put a line on top so some ladies don't have to read the story if they're having a rough day, like this:

    bfp mentioned******

and the. a couple empty lines and then the story

Hope this helps! Happy to hear you're doing better! Glad you joined us! :D

  • Ugh that is so difficult, I know!!!! It especially stings that it was on the first try. That's awesome you handled it well, but don't feel bad if you have trouble with it as well!

    Me: 32  DH: 33  Married: March 2004

    July 2006: started TTC
2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary

July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN

May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis

May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5

November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)

    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

Me too! Our one couple friends had one baby and are already talking about starting for the next one in the winter. She got pregnant right away and I'm dreading that they will again. (not that I want them to have trouble but I want them to wait to start trying a little longer!) It's so hard!

  • I totally sympathise. It seems that everyone is pregnant right now.

  • Sorry. :( But it's great that you are proud of your strength in handling it! :)

WHY does everyone feel the need to inform their friends which month of trying they got pregnant? It is EXACTLY the same thing as saying, "By the way, in case pregnancy is not enough evidence of my fertility, I want the world to know that MH and I are uber-fertile compared to the rest of the population because we got pregnant as soon as we stopped preventing." So inappropriate. :(

This bothers me too! I have "friends" that have told us "oh it only took 2 months! etc." I feel like people who do that like to brag about everything anyway. This is just another way for them to brag about themselves.

I put friends in quotes because after all the comments I've been dealing with from a few of them, I don't know how much longer I want to stay friends with them,

  • A friend announcing a new pregnancy certainly catches me off guard and leaves me full of mixed emotions. I'm always so happy to hear good news for a friend and to share in their excitement, but at the same time feel the pain of another couple having what I wish for so badly. It sounds like you handled it well! Way to go! :)

  • That's always rough. Even the ones that don't mean to catch you off guard, still do, because they don't understand IF. I'm glad you handled it well.
