Re: Another one for parents: What's in your diaper bag?

  • Diapers (2-4)
    Wipes
Swaddle cloth ( I like the Aiden and Anais)
    Change of clothes (or two)
    Socks
Nose frieda and spray (but Owen gets as stuffy nose easily and I'm paranoid)
    Teething tablets (for Kaden)
Changing pad cloth/system (I use the chucks pads left over from my home birth - super convenient)
Ziploc bag (for wet clothes)  or wet diaper bag
    Nail clippers
    Mittens (for newborn)
    Hat (for newborn)
    Bib
    Pacifier (or two)
    Coconut Oil

  • Loading the player...
  • @jazibel started a good list... Here are a few I would add

    Burp cloth
    Nursing cover
Granola bar for mom... (Often getting a newborn out of the house was enough, let alone eat something)

    Same sex couple, Married 8/6/11
    Baby Oliver born 11/27/13

    TTC stats with donor sperm...
    IUI #1 with trigger, 1/4/13 - BFN
IUI #2 with trigger, 2/1/13 BFN
IUI #3 with tigger, 2/28/12 BFP EDD 11/21/13
  • It's been a while since mine was a newborn, but here's what I remember (I didn't carry a separate purse). Diapers Wet bag (or plastic bag -- we used cloth diapers) Diaper cream Wipes Paci if using Rattle or toy At least one change of clothes and socks Zip lock with a few boogie wipes Burp cloth Chap stick Tissues Wallet Eye drops Gum/mints Changing pad Nursing cover if using

I can't believe I forgot this. I always had one of the ready made similac formula 2 oz for supplementation bottles in my bag.  I got some free samples when he was first born and stuck one in my diaper bag.  I ended up not needing it when he was a little newborn but it was nice to have a "ready to go" bottle in my bag in case I got out of the house and he had a latch issue or I didn't feel comfortable nursing in public.  I think it was just peace of mind when he was little, now I actually use the bigger premade bottles occasionally while we are out.

  • I would also add.... Bottle of water for mom(s), hair brush/comb, gas drops (if you end up needing/using them), hand sanitizer for mom(s) -- for after those back of the car diaper changes...

I think all the PPs have it covered.  I'm just popping in to say that if this seems overwhelming, I want to remind you that there WILL come a time (and sooner that you think), when you can run out of the house with just a purse-sized bag containing more of your stuff than Simone's; just a couple of diapers, a small pack of wipes, and (maybe) a spare outfit.  It rocks.

@atxmommas ... Hah.  Believe.  For us it started to happen around the time that G was getting more of his calories from solid food than from milk.  Much easier to "Punt" at that point if we were missing something from our bag.  Of course it also depends on where you going and how long you'll be gone, etc, but at 16 months we're pretty much exclusively using a small purse-sized bag now.
