Yay! I get to be one of the first this time!
Do you own a Swingline?
What's your spirit animal?
If you could meet anyone from any time, who and why?
1. I do. It's blue. I actually didn't even realize I owned one until that question came up in the AMAs and I checked.
2. A golden retriever. And not just because I have one. I'm easy-going and loyal. And I like sleeping and my family.
3. Not a famous person, but I'd like to meet my great grandmother. She immigrated from Russia when she was 13 by herself. I'd like to hear about her journey.
Pancakes. I feel like there are more varieties - blueberry, banana, chocolate chip, sweet potato.
Breakfast - egg sandwich. I eat one pretty much every morning. I just do egg (sometimes egg white), laughing cow cheese and an english muffin or sandwich thin.
Lunch - the overly-priced salad/hot bar at Whole Foods.
Favorite family tradition? Would you like to begin any with LO?
What's you ideal family vacation?
So my parents got divorced when I was three. My mom remained close to my aunt/uncle and cousins who are on my father's side. Every year, she did this Hanukkah celebration for me and my cousins. It included baking cookies and playing board games and she always gave the kids goody bags. This started when we were little kids and 30 years later, we still do it, though now my mom gives goody bags to the kids' kids. I'm looking forward to LO participating too.
Since LO will also celebrate Christmas, I'm looking forward to starting some traditions around that too. I always wished that I had Christmas traditions, but growing up Jewish, I obviously didn't.
Ideal family vacation would be Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. (Yes, there are beaches in Delaware.) I loved going there as a kid and would love to rent a house near the beach with LO. We might do it next year.
If you could pick a song to be your theme song, what song would you choose and why?
What is your favorite quote or words of wisdom?
What trait do you have that you hope passes down to your LO?
I had to think about this one for a while and came up with "Don't Go Back to Rockville" by REM. I'm originally from Rockville, MD and sometimes when life isn't going my way, I just think that I could move back and solve it all. But I know that I can't and that running away from my problems won't solve anything.
It's a song lyric: "But I keep moving, if I hit a wall, I look up at the sky."
I think I'm very easy to get along with and generally a likeable person.
How long have you been a vegetarian? (Or are you pescatarian?) Is your H veg? What about LO?
Eta: just saw your post about sushi! Though I know there is some delicious veggie sushi out there.
I'm actually neither. I started eating poultry again about two months ago. I was pescatarian (with periods of vegetarianism) for about 10 years though. I just kind of evaluated my reasoning for not eating meat and realized that I didn't really have a reason, so I started eating it again. I still don't eat red meat or pork though. I don't like either of them and probably haven't eaten either (intentionally) since I was about 16 or 17. MH eats everything.
Best and worst dates?
One of your favorite things about your LO?
Best - I don't know if this is considered a date since we were already married, but DH and I went to Las Vegas for a few days and got all dressed up and did a tasting menu at Michael Mina, a fancy restaurant in the Bellagio.
Worst - I met this guy and he invited me to go to a bar to hear some live music. I got there and he had invited a friend who had just gone through a breakup or divorce or something and was like crying about his ex the whole time. Then the two of them wanted me to smoke pot in their van with them. Umm, yeah, no.
I love it when he laughs. He also will give huge smiles.
If you were hosting an F14 paint night... what wine would you serve? What picture would we paint?
Well, I feel like I should serve Relax Riesling, but I don't like sweet wines so I'm going to say Muprhy Goode Sauvignon Blanc. Because it's named after my dog. Or so I like to think.
Oldest thing you own?
If your life was going to be turned into a movie, what would it be called and who would play you?
I have a necklace that was made from the faceplate of my grandfather's watch. Probably that.
The slightly neurotic but somewhat funny life of Djtippietoes. Someone once told me that I look like Natalie Portman (which I totally don't, but we'll go with it) so her.
This is silly, but I remember that someone, I don't even know who, said something about hanging out by the pool but the phone had auto-corrected to hanging out by the poop. I could not stop laughing (while at work, of course.)
Favorite candle scent? Your go to feel good movie? Biggest pet peeve?
I don't know that I have a favorite. I like ones that smell like food.
So this is not like a traditional feel-good movie but I always like Dazed & Confused.
Pet peeve - people who don't wave when you let them in while driving. I'm sure I have others and that's not the biggest one, but it's the first that came to mind.
Who would your celebrity BFF be and why?
Favorite book?
Favorite thing about Judiasm?
How did your great grandmother do once she got to the US? Did she have relatives here already? I'm fascinated!
I'm having a hard time coming up with a celeb BFF. I'll get back to you on that one!
Favorite book - Never Let Me Go
I'm not religious at all, but I like how there are cultural traditions that go along with Judaism.
I think she worked. I'm not entirely sure actually. She had a brother and sister who lived here but I'm not sure who came first. I know she came by herself though.
What makes you happy?
What makes you sad?
Do you have a man-crush? (Non-celeb kind)
Have you ever been naughty and surprised yourself buy doing something out of character?
(it's freaking 3 am and that's what I came up with!)
Happy - Baby smiles, when LO reaches another milestone, when the house is clean, naps, when I go for a run and it feels easy, when DH shows an interest in being healthy, my dog.
Sad - Not living near my family. Sometimes work issues.
I can't really think of a non-celeb but for celebs, number one is Alexander Skarsgard.
I bought a big bag of those new wasabi ginger lays yesterday. It is pretty out of character for me to do that. I'm usually a really healthy eater.
Re: AMA - Djtippietoes
2) favorite song of the summer?
3) what was the last thing you purchased?
Mac or PC?
If you had a kid free afternoon and $100, what would you do?
