Toys for a 1 year old

I was wondering for the STM or anyone really, what are some good toys for a 1 year old boy? With the holidays and LO's Birthday in January (along with a My husband's and MIL's) and daycare starting in Sept money will be a tad tight so I wanted to try and buy a few things each money so my credit card doesn't hate me too much in the winter. I have a few ideas but what love to hear what your kids loved. Thanks!

    One of the things that I really want to get DD for her birthday or Christmas is Lego duplo blocks. My mom has a ton of them in her daycare and the kids all love them. They get played with by kids of many ages and they all make really cool things out of them.

    I also want to get her a couple more books for Christmas, but that is about all of the planning I've nailed down so far lol

    I didn't buy DS presents from us until he was about 3. We got so much from other people and he didn't know who it was from anyway. That being said, at 1 he liked Little People, blocks, books, music making toys, and balls.

    DD received and liked:

    Pop up tent, ball pit, dolls, tiny toy wagon, Mega Blocks, Little People, bubble machine, books, cd for in the car, Fisher Price Laugh and Learn toys.

    We try to buy stuff she won't outgrow right away.

    Board books were a huge hit with DS. He liked the ones from little people with flaps.

    Hits among DS1 and DD have been wooden blocks, musical instruments, wooden cars (look on etsy), and books.

    Ride on toys are a big hit too. Currently we have a tiny quad, a vtech bike/car, a Step2 rocking horse, and a zebra you sit on and bounce. The vtech bike makes lots of noise and gets annoying, but the kids love it.

    Ben loved the little people farm, activity table, wooden blocks, and mega blocks (all presents from his first birthday).  He also loved the musical instrument set but not until a little later on.  Also the cozy coupe car is always a big hit - he got that and a kiddie slide for christmas around 15 months and he STILL plays with them.
