Hey guys if like to ask you all a few questions about your morning routines. I've changed jobs and the commute will be longer for dd and myself. I just want to get some ideas.
1) how long is your child/children awake before you leave the house?
2) do your children shower/bathe in the morning or evening?
3) where do your kids eat breakfast? Home, car, school/daycare
4) what time does you child(ren) wake up?
5) for school age kids what time does your school start and what time do your kids get to school.
For some reason it bothers me that my dd doesn't wake up and have breakfast at home. I teach and have to be at school before it starts which usually means I have to drop dd off well before her school starts. Thus we normally take breakfast to school and eat it there. Also now with the longer commute I worry about having to wake her up even earlier to get out the door on time and still give her plenty to get woken up (not a morning girl).
Re: NBFR morning routine survey
1.5 hours (now). I take the kids to school and THEN leave for work. The time hasn't changed much even though I have switched jobs. When I commuted longer (and had to be at work by 8:15), I got up earlier but then had to dress, feed, prepare the kids as well as getting myself dressed and ready. Now they dress themselves and DD makes her own breakfast (I still make lunches)
2) do your children shower/bathe in the morning or evening?
DS (9) bathes in the evening. DD (12) showers when either. She tries to shower at night, but she is so involved in activities that sometimes she is too tired and just showers the next morning.
3) where do your kids eat breakfast? Home, car, school/daycare
At home. But when my kids were in daycare, I left the house if I got them to daycare by 7:30 am, they could have breakfast at daycare. I always got them in early so they could have breakfast then.
4) what time does you child(ren) wake up?
7 am. When I had a long (45 min) commute they woke at 6:30
5) for school age kids what time does your school start and what time do your kids get to school.
2- he bathes in the evening
3 - he eats a small thing at home so a small bowl of cereal or a poptart, then he eats breakfast at school
4- well have to adjust the routine slightly so well see
5- 8am
My daughter is actually an early riser at 6am and her PreSchool (not to be confused with day care) started at 9am.
2) do your children shower/bathe in the morning or evening?
DD showers at night, as part of her bed time routine. The warm water helps to calm her body down.
3) where do your kids eat breakfast? Home, car, school/daycare
She eats breakfast at home. She starts her day with a Carnation Instant Breakfast as soon as she gets out of bed and will then add something else, like a small cup of cereal or Eggo Waffle.
4) what time does you child(ren) wake up?
Between 6:00 am and 6:30 am. If she makes the 6:30 mark, I go in to check her cheek to see if she is warm. The odds of her sleeping to 6:30 or on usually means a cold, allergies or growth spurt.
5) for school age kids what time does your school start and what time do your kids get to school.
2) do your children shower/bathe in the morning or evening? evening
3) where do your kids eat breakfast? Home, car, school/daycare daycare, sometimes DS1 will be hungry enough to eat at home while I'm still getting ready, but even then its just a poptart
4) what time does you child(ren) wake up? 6am
1) how long is your child/children awake before you leave the house?
6 & 7yo 1hr. 11, 15 & 17yo's (boys) 30minutes.
2) do your children shower/bathe in the morning or evening?
Generally in the evening but sometimes the boys will get up early to shower in the morning.
3) where do your kids eat breakfast? Home, car, school/daycare
School, but often will grab something quick from home before their bus comes.
4) what time does you child(ren) wake up?
5:30 and 6:00 for the boys.
5) for school age kids what time does your school start and what time do your kids get to school.
elementary starts at 8:10 and they are there approximately 20 minutes before school starts.
Most of this is about to change though.. I'm just trying to figure out the best solution. I want to start driving the younger kids to school, they all have to be up so early because they are first to be picked up on the bus (6:30) even though we are the closest to the school on that route. 6 and 7yos are starting ballet, tumbling and tap tomorrow which changes our designated homework time, and will also alter dinner time. My issue, I don't want the freshman and the junior to feel left out b/c I won't be able to drive them to the high school (it's 20 miles in the opposite direction).
I have LO on our morning schedule so she will be up and ready for the car ride (=

2) do your children shower/bathe in the morning or evening? Evenings.
3) where do your kids eat breakfast? Home, car, school/daycare. Mostly at Daycare. Sometimes a small something at home. We do NOT eat in the car.
4) what time does you child(ren) wake up? 7:00am.
5) for school age kids what time does your school start and what time do your kids get to school. We are starting Kindergarten next week! YAY! SS will be going to DC at the same time as he is now, and get transported to school from there. :-)
My Blog | My Chart
I wake DS up at 7:35am and he has to get up by 7:40am because we have to be out the door within 20min. In that 20 min window he manages to eat breakfast (bowl of cereal, usually, and OJ), morning hygiene and get dressed. Out the door by 8am, at school by 8:02 (lol, it is like 100 yards from my front door), they have to be at the line up by 8:05am. Tardy bell is at 8:10am.
Sometimes I walk him, sometimes we do valet drop off, and I take off to work right from there.
Shower/bath is always at night.
Seems hectic on paper, but our mornings are actually pretty peaceful. I get up only 15min before DS does and get his school snack ready before waking him up.
