cleaning baby car carrier

I just pulled my baby carrier out of the basement from 2 plus years ago. It was in a zipped up bag but I still want to clean it a little. I know I could spray febreeze on it to smell better but any suggestions on cleaning it or any other equipment bouncy seat,etc. for that matter?

Ours came apart, so I could launder the fabrics parts and then I washed down the rest in the bath tub and allowed it to dry thoroughly.

The car seat? You may not spray it with any chemicals. Do you have your manual? Most allow the cover to be washed on gentle or hand washed with a mild detergent. You may not wash the straps but can wipe them down only with a baby wipe or a well wrung out rag that was dipped in water and a mild soap like blue dawn or baby shampoo.

Make sure to read the manual. Most don't recommend laundering the material. Hand washing and line drying is what I have seen. U want to follow the manual for safety reasons. The manufacturer tests the materials and not following their directions could reduce the safety of the car seat. Our car seat safety class made a big deal about it.

I had no idea where my manual was after two years in the basement. I took it apart, tossed the fabric and straps (all buckles removed) in the wash on gentle cycle, let it air dry, and washed the plastic with Lysol wipes. Worked out well over here.

@Lilygrace48‌ your straps are now unsafe as they cannot be washed. You need to replace them before your child rides in the seat again. You can the manufacturer if you'd like confirmation on this.
