"Sunnyside Up" Babies/Pregnancies

My back is absolutely KILLING me. I've been seeing a chiropractor and its not doing one ounce of good. I feel like my tailbone is going to break in half from the pressure. Is this just from the baby? I've had two babies already and never felt anything NEAR this bad with either of them! Got any suggestions on making it better? This baby seems completely defiant to turning around....

  • Oops. I forgot that I should have put this in the daily symptom thread. Sorry!

  • Make sure when you are sitting that your belly button is pointed forward or down, by leaning forward. Since the heaviest part of your baby is it's back, this will help it to turn. Lots of crawling around on hands & knees and cat/cow poses. Don't do any deep squats or lunges until baby turns, that will only engage the head more, making it that much harder for baby to turn. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the suggestions. I've been doing hands and knees, but I don't think she's turning. I also have an anterior placenta and the chiropractor seemed to think that might keep her from turning? But he's not a doctor either and I take just about everything he says with a rock of salt.

  • That definitely be making it harder...
I've heard you can try sleeping on your belly by making a nest with egg carton padding and pillows.
There is also move called the "abdominal lift & tuck" on the spinning babies website. It's for posterior babies and apparently is very effective. Hope this helps!!

  • I'm desperate, I'll try just about anything! I feel like my tailbone is broken any time I move.

  • Hip circles! Do them standing or on hands and knees. This is how I got my little girl to turn around.
  • Read a study recently that said 50% of babies are posterior when labor starts and only about 7% are when born. Hope this eases your mind. :)

I really hope that's true! I already had one kiddywumpus cockeyed baby and she ripped me up.

  • I did a lot of sitting on my exercise ball and making sure not to recline, laying on left side almost on belly, abdominal lift and tuck from spinning babies, and my midwife did the technique with the scarf (can't remember the name) also on spinning babies during labor and my big girl turned anterior during labor.

  • Ds1 was sunny side up until about 37 weeks then flipped. I had so much back pain it was insane. I instantly knew he turned one day when I woke up because I felt absolute relief. I sat on a yoga ball to help turn.

  • I did everything possible to try and turn him, even when delivering and he didn't budge. He came out that way after an intense pushing session. Not trying to scare you but it is what it is :/

This is what I'm afraid of. I already have a pretty intense scar down there from my first, and it tore again with my giant second. I'm just worried about a face up making it worse.

  • DS2 was sunny side up until I hit 8cm and they had me shift to my left side. I puked, he turned, and I went from 8-10 in a few minutes. Baby was out with only 20 minutes of pushing, but I did tear down the same line as with my first.

For relif the last few weeks I did yoga, and sat on a ball.
