Contractions since Saturday

Saturday after work, my "Braxton Hicks" contractions got regular and down to 15-20 minutes apart. I was only at 34+6, so I went in to L&D. They didn't get any stronger or more regular, and I wasn't dilated at all, so they sent me home, and told me "no more work." My contractions seemed to settle down through the night, but picked back up the next afternoon. They seemed to follow this pattern until yesterday. I woke up with contractions, and they've continued through the day and night. I woke up to a particularly painful one this morning, and I'm just kind of waiting around until my OB appointment at noon today. Has anyone else been through this waiting game before? I'll be 37 weeks on Monday, and I'm just curious if this is the beginning of labor, or if this is just my crappy new normal until labor actually begins...

Additional info: Baby is occiput posterior (sunny side up), still very active, and was estimated at almost 6 lbs back at our 34 week US.

Unfortunately, it may just be your new normal. If they get closer together and you can't talk through them I would just call L&D back. Good luck.

I actually had to hold onto the dresser through one of them this morning, but it doesn't seem consistently more painful...

My sister had this with her third. (She delivered in June) She was back and forth to L&D and her doctor FINALLY induced her at 37 weeks.

She was basically told to come when things got worse so she did. And they would send her home over and over again. Better safe than sorry! I say if you feel any change, go!

I've had pretty bad contractions for the past two weeks. Went to L&D because I was only 32wk4days and they ended up sending me home since over two days I stayed at 1cm dilated and didn't progress. Now I'm just stuck with a new norm or contractions every 5-10 min that are painful enough to take my breath away. It's terrible. At this point I'm just praying he decides to come soon so I can get some relief and sleep.

I woke up Monday morning with consistent contractions, about every 10 -12 minutes apart. I was only 34 weeks at the time so I was definitely nervous! I called our Doula and she recommended drinking lots of water and emptying my bladder every twenty minutes. I did this for about an hour and they slowly petered out, so it turns out I just hadn't kept up with my fluids. She was such a lifesaver since I probably would've ended up in L&D for hours while they ran every test in the book, pumped me full of fluids and worried me about an early delivery, which she says tends to happen a lot to FTMs. So definitely try upping your fluid intake to what will seem like a ridiculous amount, hopefully that will work for you too!

I wouldn't wish this on my greatest enemy, but this could just be your normal for awhile. I prelabored with DS1 for a full week... a solid 7 days... SEVEN!!! Before I finally started to dilate and make progress. And even then it was another 72 hours before I transitioned into active labor at 7+cm. If baby is sunnyside up still that can cause a longer labor than usual - my son had the same presentation

So, I went in for my OB appointment, and it looks like I'm not dilating at all, but I am 50% effaced, which is new since Saturday! I may not be having a baby yet, but he's getting closer. We also got our induction scheduled for August 25th if he hasn't made it here yet! She also prescribed some Phenergran for my nausea and sleeplessness, so I'm going to take a nap to some Netflix movies...

Ugh me too. I bet it was a relief to hear it has cause *some* change. I was thinking of declining cervical checks, but after all the contractions, I am way too curious. Just have to remind ourselves it means nothing in terms of when real labor will begin. That was such a struggle with me last time and contributed to my consent to induction. Anyway.. I hope this isn't the new normal for us! We need a break before real labor begins!

I'm hoping these contractions might be helping him turn around so he's won't be posterior anymore!
