Bleeding..

Has anyone bled with their second pregnancy but not the first? I know every pregnancy is different but I also know red blood is bad and found some this morning when I wiped. Just enough to see on the tissue so far but I'm kinda just freaking out a little expecting the worst. And the ob nurse was kind of a b*tch and not helpful at all. /:

Re: Bleeding..

  • Watch & wait is all you can do. If it gets worse & you have painful cramping, that's concerning. If not, it's probably normal. Guessing this is what the nurse said?

  • She told me that it's common and there's nothing I can really do.

  • Some bright red can actually be ok. LOTS of blood would cause a concern. I'd call back and try to get another nurse!! Sometimes those nurses forget THEY are the only ones dealing with this every day and that bleeding is freaking scary for the momma! Hang in there. Time will tell and I'll be thinking about you!

  • If it's just spotting with no cramps you're probably fine, but a doctor is really the only one who can confirm or deny any statement.

    My personal experience with spotting:
I had brownish spotting at 5 weeks and 7 weeks. Last week (9 weeks) I had very heavy red blood with cramping. Ultrasounds on Monday and Thursday showed a wiggly healthy fetus with a 174 BPM heartbeat. My doctor has me coming in once a week until further notice.

Red blood is SO scary so it's always best to rely on advice from the experts.

This forum and What to Expect both have a ton of posts about the subject and women who have had it all (spotting to heavy bleed). When I was in a state of panic and in between visits last week I found previous posts extremely helpful :)

    Good luck!
  • I had bright red blood during my last pregnancy and A LOT of it. I passed softball sized blood clots all day, every day for 5 weeks straight. I did end up losing my baby but the cause of my bleeding went undetected for almost all 5 of those weeks. I had an SCH and those usually resolve themselves and are not an issue and don't often cause a loss.

Boo. That's true, but she should have at least told you what to watch out for, in case it gets worse! Hope it doesn't happen again.

I had red bleeding (very small bit) when I wiped last week (6 weeks 1 day). I also had cramps and was sure it was over. I had an ultrasound scheduled that day anyway and told the doc. He said cramping is totally normal and even bleeding is okay as long as it's not period level and there is no tissue. We got to see our bean with a heartbeat. Even though the nurse was rude, at least it sounds like she wasn't concerned. I agree with the poster who said to call back and talk to a different nurse. Try not to worry.
  • I had red bleeding and it was because my progesterone wasn't where it needed to be. They gave me medicine to help support it.

  • Went to the doctors today because they wanted to check everything. Had to get my hcg levels checked and then gonna recheck them in 48hours. They gave me and ultra sound and I'm measuring 5 weeks instead of 7 so gotta go back in a couple weeks for another ultra sound. Hoping everything works out in our favor.
